I'm just wondering how many PAL SNES games were released?

uhmmm i'm doing the list (just took it over from ruudos) but to be honest i don't know, i don't have the file with me right now, i'll check later, problem ist that the list features all box variations and i have no way (yet) to see a list with just games instead of variations (haven't done a thing on the list since i got responsible for it, sorry, i will start my work at the end of this week)

For a ball-park figure, I'd say somewhere between 450-500. That's just an educated guess, though...

ok here we go, right now my list contains:
total incl. box and cart variations (nr is way to low): 710
the following are approximate numbers:
cart variations: i honestly can't tell (yet), same for box variations
nr of unique game (e.g. Zelda German, Zelda French and Zelda English count as ONE game, not three):
~ 550-575
an awful lot, huh? ;)
i don't think anyone in the world is anywhere near a complete set, not even carts only...

Heh. I wouldn't know - I didn't think there would be any complete MD collections yet, but I've recently been speaking with a collector who's only missing about 6 titles - 3 of which are easy to get, just expensive.
Hell, if PredatorXS has managed to get a near complete US SNES collection whilst living in the UK, I wouldn't be surprised if there's some big PAL SNES collectors we don't know about... ;)

you're right anagrama, but in fact i do not even know a single person owning more than ~300 snes pal games plus the fact that the snes community seems to be pretty dead, despite the fact that there's a lot SNES trading going on (on ebay)

Well going by the amount released I still need around 300! :o
I'm also still needing 150 MD games. :(

I'm sure there is a Snes "PAL" scene since i have spotted alot of the same UK ebayers bidding on the same games (over the years), i think some of it simply comes down to the people not knowing where to look (i.e digital Press)
Or maybe they are just collectors and don't wish to join in the online collectors community? @_@ Crazy i know but hell someone has to be!! :P
I have also thought about starting a Snes PAL collection, but i can't really get into it, i'm collecting more for the Gamecube "Yes the American" Gamecube! LOL.
Also i wouldn't be surprised to hear, that the number of snes PAL releases was up in the 700 to 800 region!?!
PS.. I Keep mentioning my snes website, well the damn thing will be up maybe this weekend, if not next weekend!.. (but it is coming!)
It is up and running and has been for a few weeks but i'm just tidying it up alittle!

Hm... You guys just gave me an idea... I'm going to be getting a hefty bonus from joining the Army (about $20,000 US, not counting money for college), and I will have nothing much to do with the money after paying off a student loan of about $3000 (I don't get the bonus until about 2006, though, but before then, I'll be getting $1450 a month or so after November 3). Let's see if I can put together a complete set of PAL SNES games... I've already got 2 (Illusion of Time and Lufia, both Australian releases)...so only 708+ to go (probably more)? Yeah, I think I'll try that. However, my serious difficulty will be payment form, as most overseas sellers only take Paypal from US buyers, and I usually pay with a money order. Well...Mt. Everest is in front of me, and I need to get a bit more climbing gear, but when I do, I'm gonna start climbing. The only reason I'd be interested faintly in a PAL SNES collection is that it's a challenge, and one I expect to take a while to complete. At least I have a PAL version SNES system already... So, I guess you can count me in on buying/trading for PAL version SNES games.

ok updated:
i've now proof of 490 games and another 60-70 games that still need proof but should exist, so my guess of 550-575 seems pretty accurate, i think it's impossible that there are more than 600 as i also checked roms and there are less than 600 pal snes games roms

was that an answer to my "proof request"? if so just see the list above, half of those games were on your list so maybe you got some proof lying around on your hd :p

I'll check it. Keep in mind that many of those games were additions mailed to me by other people.
One of the Beethoven games definitely exists, so does We're Back: A Dinosaur's Story (i've seen that one on ebay.de once with picture)
I'm pretty sure about Tin-Star too, got a review in Club Nintendo Extra here.
I have some pictures, probably most on my old PC.
At last I think you can scrap Solar Jetman, I've always doubted the existence of this game for the SNES.

Well that's it for now.
I'm pretty sure about the existence of at least one of the Beethoven games (I even think both), World Masters, We're Back!: A Dinosaur's Story, Big Sky Trooper, Blanko International Rugby, Hungry Dinosaurs, Mechwarrior 3050, Mr. Tuff and Spawn.
I have doubts about Rocky Rodent, Iron Commando and Jim Power (and the rest of the games in the list, but I haven't added those)
I wish I could remember who submitted that Super Copa game.
BTW, do you have a picture of Aero the Acro-Bat 2?

World Masters seems to have been a fault of yours, i guess you meant World Masters Golf, as we are talking i discovered "On the Ball", so that one is off the list too, yeah, i know people who claim to own Mechwarrior 3050 and i have a boxart of it from a magazine, i have reviews of all the games you listed except of the Rugby game... Super Copa is a Brazil-only release if it exists, i have discovered an NTSC version of the game, no pal yet :(
i've got a pic of Aero 2, yes, got it from an online store, forgot to bookmark it though and i can't find it again damnit...

I only see the Loriciel one, but that's probably a mistake.

How's it going?
You probably have a pic of MechWarrior 3050 now, here's an auction
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=11248&item=5131123145&rd=1
BTW, you can also put "was reviewed" behind Tin-Star.

here's the list, to prove the existence i need a PICTURE, not "i have this one" ;)
Spawn (was reviewed)
http://www.btinternet.com/~NvrMore/Spawn.jpg
Super James Pond II
Due to the naming conventions used in this series, I'm not quite sure which one you're looking for. These are the only two I know of for the SNES (excluding crazy sports):
Super James Pond (common)
http://www.btinternet.com/~NvrMore/JamesPond.jpg
Operation Starfi5h (not so much)
http://www.btinternet.com/~NvrMore/OperationStarfi5h_All.jpg
more rumor mill than anything else:
..
Ms. Pacman

Pics aren't great, but until I get round to taking new shots of my own, my old list pics were the first things to hand.

No, Spawn isn't spanish, it was definately sold over here in the UK, though it didn't seem to have a large release. To the best of my recollection, I've never knowingly seen a spanish version, of the three I've seen/had two were cart only and the other had an english text only box and manual
As for Ms. Pacman, sure it's not easy to come by but it's by no means the rarest title I've seen for the PAL collection (not even counting the comp carts and their extras). There are some which I've struggled to even get evidence of and others which I only know exist because I saw them/evidence of them before I started keeping records (and yes, it burns :frustrated: )
SPAWN: SNSP-ASWP-EUR
Ms. Pacman: SNSP-AN8p-EUR

Just thought you might want some game name variations want I have found out too, they may help:
Lagoon - Jap Version called Bahamut Lagoon
Phew @_@ that's it!
Ohh @_@ .
See this now, and this is an big error. Lagoon & Bahamut Lagoon are not the same games.
Lagoon is from Kemco & Bahamut Lagoon from Squaresoft, and its a totally different game.
Lagoon is an Action Adventure, and Bahamut Lagoon more like Final Fantasy with comands (when I not wrong). But I know 100%, thats a totally different game. :D
Bahamut Lagoon was never released outside from Japan.

The license # of Spawn seems to end on "EUR" to me.
Ms. Pac-Man is a real surprise to see.
Super James Pond II seems to sound like a mistake made by someone. Isn't Super James Pond a SNES port of James Pond II??

Do you have any examples of these very rare games and rumors?
