Dude that's pretty funny... and you KNOW it's all of the shittiest, most broken ones they accepted, too.

can either of you fairly local guys confirm the rumor that EB is blowing out SNES and genny carts in their bargin bins around here?

I think one of EB's problem with selling N64s is running promos that offer up the systems for cheap-cheap-cheap but then removing a good chunk of availablity by yanking the systems and games from malls and then not supplying the surplus.

When GMR had coupons for "Buy X amount of N64 or Dreamcast games, get system free" I marched right into my local EB (at the mall) to get a spare DC and found they pulled all of their DC and N64 stuff. The clerk said that those games were sent to individual stores for sale. Since I was headed for the "big city" that day I stopped off in Milwaukee (Brown Deer in specfic) and the EB by Fudruckers did have DC and N64 games....but no systems. The clerk knew about the sale but never got any systems to sell.

Not I... I don't collect either system and almost never go near a mall.

There is an EBgames store very close to where I work, and their prices for 8- and 16-bit games have dropped a good bit since last i checked. I found Shining in the Darkness, Phantasy Star 3, and Sparkster, all for $6 each.

The Nintendo 64 was the world's most advanced video game system in it's day, providing unsurpassed 64-bit graphics and CD-quality sound at a blistering 93.75 MHZ.
Oh god...my head..! LOL

CD-quality sound! Twenty seconds of it, too! MAYBE! With most of the frequencies cut out! Fed to your ears at a BLISTERING 93.75MHz. This ain't no Final Fantasy VII music, people.

I'd agree it was the most advanced home system in its day, though ;)

I don't think my ebgames has even had DREAMCAST games for a couple years....

And that one is 25 minutes away from me :) Don't even get me started on gamestop, which is about 55 minutes away...

man, our local eb sucks, doesn't it?
I called ahead a while back for a Metal Slug 3, and they said they'd hold it for 15 minutes so I could drive out from plymouth, and when I got there, the other clerk had sold it.

Eh, it's okay. The decision was corporate so it's not that particular EB's fault.

But the Metal Slug issue...that just sucks. That's a associate issue and not unlike Wisconsin weather: just wait, someone new will come along (ie high turnover rate).

Try living in Wyoming. 2 hours to the nearest mall. Nearest game store same distance. Anything I want better be at Wal-Mart or I dont get it :o .

Oh, if only I could expierience the joy of getting ripped off at an EB LOL

none of the EB/game stops around here will even touch anything before this generation anymore. they used to have huge racks of NES/etc. stuff, and it just all disappeared one day, and now they all have notices that as of 2/04, they will basically no longer accept anything other than PS2/GC/xbox software.

i think this "trade in" deal has started to backfire on them now that a lot more people are playing games. there are a LOT of titles i bet will just sit there after they've given out "money" for them and never make any return on.

honestly, i don't think used games at EB/GS are a good value at all. i had to get a used copy of ninja gaiden a while back since i got the last new copy in town it seemed, and it was the re-wrapped store copy, and was already dog-eared and scratched when i opened it. call me crazy, but when i spend $50 on a 5 cent slab of plastic, i want it to be perfect. all they had were used copies, and i explained how anal i am about condition for that kind of money, so i looked through all the discs they had used. not a SINGLE one was worth the $45 asking price used, IMO. they all looked awful. i don't understand WHY you would pay only $5 less for something that looked like it had been used for a cutting board.

i just asked for my money back, and unless i'm trading stuff in for a pre-order that i know will still be factory sealed when i get it, i just go to best buy/circuit city now, where i know untrained monkeys haven't messed with the merch.

for my used stuff now, i just go through ebay, and make sure the seller isn't using stock photos. i've gotten ONE bad apple that way (a copy of darkstalkers 3 for the PS that was "mint" and looked like it had been through WWIII when i got it), and one resurfaced disc being paraded as mint, out of the 70+ games i've bought on ebay.

Yeah, 'cause we all know Final Fantasy 7 has CD-quality music... *cough*It's all MIDI, except for the One-Winged Angel track.*cough*

there is an eb and gamestop in my area, but i hate going there.

i will go to the local gameshop (gamers), but they are just as bad as eb or gs. i use eBay for most of my stuff, and every once in awhile get lucky at the goodwill

I bought a Dreamcast system from their online store when they had them for $19.99. It was clean, it worked, I was happy.
I have two EB stores near me. One's in a mall and the other's in a strip mall directly across the street. Both still carry NES, SNES, N64, Genesis, and Dreamcast games, but no systems. Sunday I picked up NES carts for Tombs & Treasures, Batman: Return of the Joker, and Kirby's Adventure plus a complete SNES Battleship. The clerk actually used the lowest price marked games for the buy one and the highest priced items for the free item. I was very suprised by that! Came to $12.00 for the four games.
They had coupon books on the counter that I used to get preplayed Xbox Ninja Gaiden for $29.99, GC Mario Sunshine for $12.99, PS2 ATV 2 for $4.99 and a $4.00 off coupon got me GC Viewtiful Joe for $13.99.
I can't complain.
