saving on zelda 1

i can't remember how to save without having to die. what buttons do you have to push?

You need two controllers.

Press start on controller 1 to bring up the subscreen. Then press up and A at the same time on controller 2 to be able to save, continue, or retry...

Can't you do a bit of hot nifty controller-swappage? Although, I guess a second controller wouldn't set you back much.
