View Full Version : Intellivision II power adapter...?

Probably been asked before, but I've never found it in a search.
Anyone know where I can get the oddball power adapter (14.2-volt, or something like that) for the Intellivision II? I'd rather not buy a whole second console just to get the plug-in, so if anyone's got a parts source or -- better yet -- a broken Inty II... :)
Also, please don't suggest eBay. Because I'm poor. :hmm:

A genesis 1 AC adapter will work reliably with the Inty2, though it seems like it shouldn't. LOL

You're freakin' kidding me, right? I've got two of those...
Where's a smiley slapping his head in disbelief at? ;)

Update:
The Genesis adapter won't fit -- the Inty's pin is too thick by a hair...but you know what does work? Looking for handy solutions that would be close to the 16.2V (?) output needed, I realized that my dad's old Toshiba laptop uses a 15V adapter. On a whim, I pulled it out. Surprised to find that it actually fit the Inty's power input, I managed to turn the unit on and play a little bit of Astrosmash on a somewhat fuzzy screen.
That last part leads me to my next set of questions. Having already fiddled around quite a bit with the RF connections, do you think my fuzzy screen (clear enough to basically see the game, but snowy enough to sometimes show only black and white) would be caused by the slightly lower power output?
I suspect this is the case, since I couldn't get the IntelliVoice unit to work either (not enough power to make both units work in tandem).
I'm that much closer to getting Space Spartans to work -- any further help would be much appreciated! :D

Dunno what to say. A genny 1 AC is powering the Inty 2 that is less than 3 feet from me as I type this. It's only 9V, and my screen is crystal clear.

I can't fit a Genny 1 PS in my Inty 2 either.
Fuzzy output isn't caused by low power; it's more than likely something out of whack with the RF modulator.

No red stripe on my Inty II logo.
How about you guys? Their may be a variant here. I know some Inty 2's have a red stripe on the front vanity sticker.

Here is Jay Tilton's power supply page which says the Intv's are pretty generic and run off a couple different power supplies. I really should sit down and expand on his page if I can reach him for permission. Been a long time since updates there.
