View Full Version : Does anyone here remember a PC DooM clone called Corridor 7?

I used to love that game! I got hooked on the 1 level demo it gave me. I liked most everything about it, but years later as I got older and my gaming tastes got more refined, I found serious flaws with C7.

Still, I loved the enemies (Ttocs rule! I called them T.he T.erminators O.f C.orrior S.even when I was a little kid). Most of the enemies are names spelled backwards!

Ttocs - Scott
Solrac - Carlos
Semaj - James
Tenaj - Janet
Eniram - Marine

Lots of cool low-end (Rodex), mid-end (Ttocs) and high-end enemies (Tymok and Mechanoid Warrior).

I kinda miss the mid 90s and that DooM clone frenzy age....

I remember it, but not fondly.

Speak of the devil!

I tried out the demo a few years back...holy craw in my crutch. It would've been playable back at the time, but now it's about as impressive as a kid's Java 3D demo, and about as ugly too. Thankfully I didn't have that game as a kid.

My dad used to love that game. I was never big on it.

Haha, I saw your comment on my Corridor 7 guide book comment in that strategy guide thread. LOL

I thought it was cool how the eyeball enemies died, and the Ttocs too (they melted down to bones and green goo) I recall a PC gaming magazine giving it ratings of 85, 87, and 89.

It wasn't a shabby early DooM clone, but the level design is indeed AWFUL.

Set a record for the number of players you could have online in multiplayer...well, maybe Faceball had more, I wouldn't know.

RotT almost got as many on. See, Corridor 7 cheated 'cuz the characters have no physics whatsoever. You can run through other characters! I'm not sure about monsters, though... @_@

That was a pretty decent game. I REALLY liked Rise of the Triad though.

Even RotT's full version levels stomp on Corridor 7's LOL

I really liked RotT's shareware levels. The full version sucks (come on, the chase level is probably the silliest thing ever...)

Wow, that's a title I haven't heard about in a LONG time. I think the last time I saw that game was the demo floppy I got in PC Gamer back in the day.

Same. I also didn't care for Rise of the Triad. The 1st first person shooter that I liked after Doom was Duke Nukem 3D. Before Doom, Wolfenstein 3D. Everything else just seemed weak in comparison.

I have Corridor 7 laying around somewhere myself. Might have to dig it out and give it a try on my Win98 machine. :D

I remember Corridor 7 as well, it's just bleh. Rise of the Triad was one of my favorite games back in the day, I loved connecting through dialup with one of my friends and playing this one on one. I'd also get the drunken rockets and hit the jump pads, FLYING through the air like a crazy rocket man, lol.

Catacomb 3D - John Carmack's first FPS (he had a contest with John Romero to see who could code a game first..!) and the first commercial PC FPS, period!

Remember when CD drives were finally standard issue? Every company under the sun raced to make a buck putting together those 1000-in-1 compilations of shareware before the internet really facilitated exposure to the games.

My favorite among them was an 'Ultimate Doom WAD' collection which had a ton of mods and custom maps. Simpsons conversions, Aliens vs. Predator conversions, crazy sports multiplayer arenas where one of the marines was the 'ball' that got pushed around with chain gun fire. Then, tucked aside in a folder dedicated to Doom clones, Corridor 7. The game held a certain novelty for all of 3 minutes before I went back to enjoying the other stuff.

While we're on the subject, remember that Chex Quest giveaway game that came on the cereal boxes? A rather thorough but well done Doom conversion.

I to like the early pre all-polygon-ala-Quake style fps games when you could still have tons of monsters on screen. Played a lot of them, both full versions or shareware demos. Games such as Blake Stone (http://www.apogee1.com/blake/index.html), Nitemare 3D, Heretic, Hexxen, Ken's Labyrinth (http://advsys.net/ken/klab.htm), Depth Dwellers (http://www.3dgamers.com/games/depthdwellers), Radix: Beyond the Void, Exhumed/Powerslave and many others. Some better than others. Any one remember Operation Body Count (http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?gameid=2673)? How about The Fortress of Dr. Radiaki (http://www.3dgamers.com/games/fortradiaki)?

But there was also lots of overlooked games at this time such as Shadowcaster (http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=1411),
Cyclones (http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=1480) or Cybermage (http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=2192) and I'm still looking for a full copy of Strife (http://www.mobygames.com/game/sheet/p,2/gameId,960).

Love Rise of the Triad (http://www.classicgaming.com/rott), if you think the full game is hard then try the expansionpack.

Don't know why but, while fun to play, Catacomb Abyss (http://www.classicgaming.com/catacomb) is the only game to ever give me motion sickness.

Tried the demo but never got into playing Corridor 7 although I do have the strategy guide. The CD version had more levels compared to the floppy version.
