I was looking at Capcom vs. SNK 2 ....and I noticed that there are 2 versions EO for X-box and GCN and Millenium for PS2

Whats the deal :hmm:

What are the differences...which one is better?

EO = they have an option where you can perform supers at the touch of a stick (haven't played X-box but for GCN the c-stick is used).

Millenium = WAAAAY better. Mainly because the ps2 version includes roll cancels.

If you don't plan on learning advanced tactics, (I.E. roll cancels)
then get the x-box version because it has live compatibility.

EO= Easy Operation...the weenie verison of CVS2...using one stick to perform specials....hate to sound like Geese...but "Predictable!"

Xbox verison is the bomb for Live services

Yet the PS2 verison is just right....yet I'd grab an import of DC's for a nice Ascii or AgeTec pad feel for sure ;)

No, the PS2 version has Roll Cancels, a glitch where canceling a roll causes you not to recieve damage. It's a move used often in tournament play but it was fixed for the EO versions.

If you have an Xbox, get that version. There really isn't much difference between the 2 versions. The DC and PS2 versions are the original version, and the Xbox and GC versions are the EO versions.

EO stands for "easy operation", where when you pick it, the right analog stick can be used to perform special moves and super moves instantly (depending on what direction you push it), but you lose the ability to use basic attacks, and it's widely regarded as a complete joke.

Now, the DC and PS2 versions have some glitches that are in the arcade version, the biggest of which is roll canceling (RC) where when you come out of a roll, you still retain the invincibility of the roll for a limited time. It's a glitch, capcom did not intentionally put in the game.
Now, in the EO versions, RC's were taken out, and a few very minor tweaks were made to the gameplay for the sake of balance. The only major tweak was the addition of Super Cancels to P groove. Super canels allow you to interrupt a special move with a super move, comboing the 2 together. Capcom added this because P groove was vastly underpowered, and needed some other advantage to keep up with the other grooves.

Some fighting game "purists" are bitching about the EO version since the RC glitch was removed and Super Cancels were added, thus it is not identical to the arcade version. However, it is in essence an updated version of the game, and I don't understand why people can't see that.

In any case, that's the difference between the 2 versions, and the Xbox version has the option of online play, which is both awesome and frustrating at the same time...

The reason people don't like that they took out roll cancels is that CvS2 is ultimately a pretty boring and shallow game without them. Unless you have perfect rushdown, there's simply too many options to allow someone to play defensively and win without doing even a quarter of the work an offensive player would. Roll Cancels gave the offensive player a very useful tool to help break the defensive line, and without them, the game loses ALOT.

play in arcade mode only where there is no EO mode, you'll find real good players real quick.

I enjoyed playing EO at my friends house on live just so I could use ryu with the EO controls. It was so great hearing the cussing storms. That's what you get for not picking EO! UNLIMITED whirlwind kicks in the FACE. If that was survived it was uppercut time. Fireball's were just too cheap. I used em a lot though. Hold right.......dead.
