Was fixing up about 4 nes yesterday.

Put em all back together and they all work really good cept this one NES has a very very low pitch humming when you plug it into the sound port thinger on the TV. You can still hear the music over the humming but its driving me nuts !

Argh , any ideas ?

you know i have had this problem before as well. are you using an RF? i think maybe sometimes the boxes inside the NES that house the RF and AC plugs may start to go bad. Try using an AV cable for the side. this fixed it for me.

It could be the ground. Granted usually one would expect all your systems to be similairly messed up, but NES' can be weird. I fixed up an NES once and as always tested it before puting it back together, it worked fine so I closed it up. When it was put back together it wouldn't work. Finally, I noticed that if I used only about half of the screws it worked fine. If your system is on the fritz see if it works better with the shell off. If you know how (and only if you know how) try ataching a wire from the PCB ground to your houses ground (attaching the ground wire to the case of a PC [or outside of PSU] works as a improvisation)... Again don't do any of that unless you know what your doing.

Beyond a possible problem with your ground the RF is likely somehow the culprit. Try using the RCA (is you already are try the RF).

Good luck. :)
