This probly belongs in off topic, but....

The videogame forum is impossible to browse through due to all the "Moved:" topics. If a topic gets moved, can't it NOT be in the videogame forum anymore? Doesn't leaving it here defeat the ENTIRE purpose of moving it?

There are more moved topics on the first page of VG Forum than normal posts :/

26 moved, 24 posts, 1 sticky.

How ironic would it be if this topic got moved...

The search function helps if your looking for something specific, but beyond that when your just browsing it can be annoying but you can always get an impression of what topics are "active" and if not you can always go back past the first page

Let me explain the philosophy behind that.

This main forum is the "Grand Central Station" of the forums. Almost everything posted starts here, sometimes by accident. The purpose of the shadow topics (MOVED:) is to route you to the proper destination. Once there, you can browse other topics of similar nature.

A secondary function is to keep "classic" discussions in the public eye. With new people constantly coming and going, I like the idea of old but always-relevant topics springing up on the main forum. This in turn solicits new opinions on long-running themes and deters some repetition in these as well.

I hope this explanation suffices.

Agreed with the chief above. What's apparently happening (as I've also noticed the plethora of MOVED and/or "fireball - hot topics" from Classic Discussions in the Main Forum) is that new members are rediscovering old popular topics and are chiming in with their input. A lot of Classic Discussions are being revisited. My guess is, once everyone chimes in with these "newfound" subjects, they'll drop off the page again.

I agree that all of the ghosting is cluttering and bothersome. I generally will go to other forums if I am seeking non-video game discussions or classic discussions. Having to wade through so many "moved" topics is a bore, BUT

this is just a video game website, I can be inconvenienced for an extra 3 minutes a day to find the topics that belong here and I do understand the idea behind the ghosting.

So it really affects me nigh.

Why did I post again? ;)
