In the RGB topic some folks say they prefer a blurred TV to a cystal clear Component/RGB screen. - and vice versa. What about emulation?

I normally go with smoothing if I'm playing full-screen, but I stay away from interpolation. It looks like total ass, like cellular automata gone horribly wrong or something.

i either go for the slightly blurred TV mode, or the regular blocky emulation.

the interpolated ones like the EAGLE mode in SNES9X look like poo to me, especially in anything text heavy or anything with donkey kong country CGI sprites. it looks like a bad illustrator auto-trace. x_x

Crystal clear!

To truely appreciate the art and detail it's best viewed without any filtration.

My MAME box is hooked to a TV with s-video and it looses some detail but in my PC monitor I love seeing every little pixel.

is scanlines not an option? that's the only filter i use. i turn it on/off depending on how far away i am from the pc screen. usually pretty close, so i put scanlines on.

Spoken like a true connoisseur!

Same. Interpolating sometimes looks good (some old GB games), but I consider it a novelty only. "Scanlines" (i.e. as Gens does them) look silly.
