Streets of Rage 4 - What happened?

I read a few articles on this...was it that Sega of America canned it because the "staff" really was unaware of how popular the game was? This cannot be true, can it? If that was so, were the rumors regarding its release on the Xbox a few years ago warranted at all?

When I asked Yuzo Koshiro about it (in an interview (http://www.geocities.com/opcfg2/yuzointerview.html) I had with him a couple of years back), he said that it was just a rumor for now. Too bad it hasn't been developed since then. I'd love to see a new SoR.
