I hadn't heard about this when it was first announced:
Europe is getting a special gold Zelda edition Gameboy SP with the release of Zelda: The Minish Cap this November.
How awesome is this? :

Nintendo, if you have any brains at all you'll bring this stateside. It would sell like crazy!

It does look nice, don't it? I haven't seen one in person, but it doesn't look nearly as cheesy as the old gold carts (for NES) did. Won't flake away, either. Which is a good thing.

I love this one as well! Not as much as my NES GBA SP though. I also like the other one Europe is getting, the Special Edition Marion one. I like that one better than the Zelda SP. (I guess because I like Mario better, but the Zelda SP is prettier than the Mario SP)

My SP IS broken, and this would be a nice piece to have....but I'm wondering if I shouldn't just wait for the DS. It's backwards compatible, right?

Why would Nintendo (here in America) release the wireless adapter along with Pok�mon FireRed and LeafGreen knowing that the DS is right around the corner with innate wireless capabilities? I'm aware that it is a third system and not a replacement for the GBA, but come on, wouldn't the general consensus of consumers say that it is? If you weren't a "gamer," would you not think that it is supposed to be the successor of the GB?

Unless Nintendo changed the design again, the DS is susposed to have TWO cart slots -- one for DS games and one for GBA games (that will play on just the main screen). No GB or GBC games.

It's due to the fact Nintendo is going to have the DS as a SEPERATE line from the GBA, and they did'nt see the need to put in that technology. You can still play all 1000+ GB games on your GBA.

I love the Zelda one. But dammit! I would surely get it.. if the god damned DS wasn't coming. THIS irks me. Why not make the DS have a special edition? Instead of an SP.

Darnit. This would have been perfect. Oh well, I still love my red one and still look forward to replacing it with a DS.
