Okay, by popular request, here is a list of the games that were released exclusively for the Nintendo Gamecube.

There are 397 releases for the Gamecube, 121 of which are exclusives (in one way or another.)

That's 31.93%.

Please note, that this "exclusivity" is only with respect to the PS2 or XBOX.
Some of these games may have GBA or Nokia N-Gage releases (and they do), but as I was only considering console formatted games, I believe that this list is very accurate.

I've spent a LOT of time over the last three days making sure that this is as close to 100% as possible, but I can certainly make mistakes.

If anyone isn't sure if a title is exclusive, or can show that the title exists for PS2 or XBOX, please let me know.

Finally, I'll be adding a "Gamecube Exclusive" tag to the item description for the Gamecube section of the DP Online Rarity Guide.

Enjoy!

Steve

Also, I don't know if you want to include this in your notes, but Ikaruga was originally released in Japan for the Dreamcast.

Is Summoner 2 for the GameCube different than the version for the PS2?

Also, Godzilla Destroy All Monsters was originally a GameCube exclusive til they released it for the XBOX. Not sure if that version is different.

Same goes for Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II.

Worms Blast was also released for the GBA, PC, MAC and PS2.

Let's see..

Is Summoner 2 for the GameCube different than the version for the PS2?

Yes. In fact, it has a different title.

Also, Godzilla Destroy All Monsters was originally a GameCube exclusive til they released it for the XBOX. Not sure if that version is different.

It was actually released for the PS2 and the XBOX, and they're all the same game.

Same goes for Phantasy Star Online Episode I & II.

Now this is actually not accurate. The Gamecube release can be played offline, whereas the XBOX version is online ONLY. By definition, they are different games. However, I did not include that in my list because the online games are the same.

Worms Blast was also released for the GBA, PC, MAC and PS2.

Look closer. While I mention in my disclaimer that many of these games may have been released in GBA format, I didn't (nor wouldn't) investigate PC/Mac releases. This is a console discussion.

However, since you have included a link to a PS2 version, I looked a little closer, just in case I missed something. Yep - it's a PAL version. MANY games were released in PAL format overseas on the PS2.

In fact, there are several games released in PAL format for the Gamecube overseas, and not here in the US. For example: Judge Dredd vs. Death, Butt Ugly Martians, (there are many others).

This list just focuses on US NTSC releases, and in comparison to the PS2 and XBOX only.

I appreciate the info though.

Awesome list, but the only one that will be subjected to change soon, is Sonic Mega Collection, with it's November release on PS2 and Xbox.

Anyways, this will surely come in handy :) thanks again!

PSO I & II is on both xbox and GC, the xbox version CAN be played offline but you need an xbox live account to activate the game. However, PSO I & II PLUS is GC exclusive as far as I know. The GC version of I & II has slightly different graphics, xbox has downloads and voice chat. I would say that there are differentish games bu trather similar, although the PLUS version is exclusive.

Godzilla Melee on Xbox has downloadable features and i think one or two extra characters, if that matters.

Great list though!

thought it might be worth mentioning that super monkey ball 1 & 2 are also scheduled to be released in a collection called 'super monkey ball deluxe' on ps2 and xbox early next year.

I think I heard that Playstation is has a higher percentage due to the fact that they are making 1st party games for the PSP which they then port over to the PS2 as new games. Still exclusive to the Playstation.

To be fair, it's still mocked todayLOL I have two of them with a nice selection of games but I still hate that controller. But theres definitely enough exclusives to collect for it.

Bust-a-Move 3000I don't think this was a Gamecube exclusive. The US version is the same game as Super Bust-A-Move on the PS2, except for some changed backgrounds (according to Wikipedia and the back cover art of both games, anyway).

The Japanese GC version, however, had a four player mode.

Edit: Oh goddamn this is a thread from 2004? Agh!

Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life did came out for PS2 as Special edition. Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life & Harvest Moon Magic Melody are GCN exclusive.

Some other exclusive game missing from the list

- Odama
- Geist
- Chaos Field
- Battalion Wars
- Baten Kaitos
- Baten Kaitos: Origin
- Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
- Chibi-Robo

Some titles consider exclusive, but was out for Dreamcast

- Skies of Arcadia: Legends
- Sonic Adventure 2: Battle
- Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut
- Evolution Worlds (Was split into two games)
- Ikaruga

Some titles re-release for Wii

- Pikimin 1 & 2
- Metroid Prime 1 & 2

Still, that is still a common mistake... GameFAQs doesn't have the two listed separately, for example. Because yes, the US/EU only "Bust-A-Move 3000" is a port of Super Bust-A-Move on the PS2. The JP only game is an original title, much improved over the original with new features such as 3/4 player support.

Someone should update the list.

Indeed... and do things like remove games that were also available on Dreamcast, Ikaruga shouldn't be there for instance... if a game of the same title was on GBA or something but both are different games I wouldn't count it, it only counts if the actual games are the same, not just the titles. (though Super Monkey Ball's GBA/DS ports... are they the same game apart from graphics, feature-wise?)

... Also the difference between a true exclusive and something which just has some minor exclusive features is an important one really. Finding a way to note that is worthwhile...

Wouldn't have figured with that huge NEC logo as your avatar. LOL

I just tracked this one down, it's so much like F-Zero, probably because it was made by the same team who made F-Zero on the GBA. Did NEC publish any other games for the GCN?

R.Sakai
07-11-2009, 12:11 AM
Yeah, the NEC thing was what caught my attention back when the game came out :)

I thought there was supposed to be some other games nec interchannel were going to do, but got canceled (I know they did culdecept on the ps2)? can't find any info and my memory sucks :(

And can anyone get this game to work on their Wii? I don't own my own, but the two I've tried it on don't seem to respond to the GC controllers, it boots, it goes through attract mode, just can't get any input to it :(

And this game soooo screamed Dreamcast port, lol

In the United States, Sonic Gems Collection is also an exclusive, while in other regions it is available for PS2.

Sonic Mega Collection is an exclusive because the PS2/Xbox version is different and has more games.

It was more the name that caught my eye, it's one of the weirdest game names ever. Also thought it was weird that there's no story.

But yeah, it works on my Wii.

I find these types of lists quite valuable. If anything defines a console, it's exclusives. Just to help clarify things...

Army Men Air Combat: The Elite Missions is an updated release of the N64 title.
Backyard Football was released on PS2
Bloody Roar: Primal Fury was released on the Xbox as Bloody Roar Extreme.
Evolution Worlds is a re-release of the Dreamcast games Evolution: The World of Sacred Device and Evolution 2: Far Off Promise.
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes is a remake of PlayStation Metal Gear Solid.
Summoner: A Goddess Reborn was released on PS2 as Summoner 2.
"The GameCube port was released as Summoner: A Goddess Reborn in 2003. The characters of Maia and Taurgis are redesigned from the original (the changes to Maia can be seen by looking at the box art), and there are slight visual differences in some levels (most notably the Palace of Halassar). The GameCube version unfortunately has a significant frame rate stutter during combat, which was not in the PS2 version. It also lacks a hidden cut scene referencing the first game. The gameplay, features, and story are identical." -wikipedia

Bomberman Jetters was released on PS2 in Japan
Chaos Field was released on Dreamcast and PS2 in Japan and on Wii as part of Ultimate Shooting Collection
Ikaruga was released on Dreamcast in Japan
Space Raiders was released on PS2 in Japan
Spirits & Spells was released on PS2 in Japan and Europe
Tales of Symphonia was released on PS2 in Japan
Tom Clancy's The Sum Of All Fears was released PS2 in Europe
Worms Blast was released on PS2 in Europe

Because it's so easy to play Japanese imports on the Gamecube, an updated list including Japanese exclusives would be even more valuable.

Evolution Worlds is also missing a healthy chunk of content from the first game, IIRC. Something like missing at least two of the dungeons or some such? The Sting article on HG101 spells out the differences a lot better.

Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes does a pretty good job of standing on its own from Metal Gear Solid. It very much is a new game, just with the MGS levels and storyline in there. The gameplay is pretty different, the AI is totally different, the cinemas and voice acting are all new, etc. Personally, I hated it (awful control and bipolar AI). :(

I vote to have someone else take over and start a new thread compiling GameCube exclusives as the thread starter has not posted on the forum in nearly a year.

Also, I think if there is a new list it should list only exclusives.

I say this because Animal Crossing, for example, came out on N64 as Doubutsu no Mori. Other titles like Ikaruga I believe apply also.

Yes, yes you should. At the very least, there should be distinction of regions. I suspect however the Japanese exclusive list would be harder and longer to compile so PAL and NTSC-U/C might be best to start with.
