Does anyone know of a videogame image recognised by all gamers?

Kind of like a "logo for gaming" ?

Im interested to see peoples opinions

First to mind: Pac-Man

A bit more familiar than the tractor-cannon from Satan's Hollow LOL

Sega and Nintendo company logos...that goes without saying. I would've said the old (well, mediumish-old at the time) Konami logo, as well...

In this order:

1. Pac-Man
2. Space Invader
3. Mario (preferably from SMB)

I agree with your top three, PDF. Although I worry that Space Invader has lost ground to Mario, and may in fact be #3 these days. *shudders*

But what I really want to know is PDF's #4-$10!

Mario. Even people who don't know anything about gaming will typically recognize him.

you know.. I personally think every gamer on the planet has seen this phrase on screen at some point and it only applies to only to gaming:

"Game Over"

Oh, I guarantee that Mario is WAY above Space Invaders these days!!!
I would say in order:
Mario
Pac-Man
Donkey-Kong

THese are the ones that just really stick out, I think.

Mario, Pac Man, and Zelda for sure. Also Sonic, the Atari logo, the aliens from Galaga, and the Intellivision man.

The first thing I thought of, like a lot of people have already said, was Pac-Man. But now I agree with "Game Over." It seems to be just as definitive as our little yellow, Italian and alien friends.

For most casual gamers I'd say the Logos to , Playstation, Xbox, Rockstar, Nintendo.

I would guess an NES controller at this point might even be more recognizable. I saw a kid wandering around OKGE the night before wearing a maroon shirt with an NES controller on the front. I knew instantly he was in the right place.

Another vote for Pac-Man.
Any company logos are pointless, since that represents a singular facet of the industry, rather than videogames as a whole.

This is easy, kids. It's Pac-Man.

He's the definitive image of the videogame, and the first gaming superstar. People who wouldn't be caught dead with a joypad or near an arcade can spot Pac-Man instantly.

Heck, put Pac and Ms. Pac together in the same picture. That would be perfect.

Easily Pac-man, Mario, Link(or a triforce), Pong, and a space invader, in that order. Master Chief's stock is rising on the recognizability front, though. I wouldn't be surprised if a year after Halo 2, everyone doesn't know what he looks like.

Another vote for Pac-Man. But Slashdot uses a classic Atari 2600 joystick as an icon for "games," so I also have to give that the nod.
