Did you know it was Atari 2600 week here at DP?

As you can see from the banner at the bottom of the forums, WE LOVE ATARI 2600. It's not the kind of love a man and a woman share... it's much better than that. The 2600 isn't going to break our hearts, get caught cheating, or grow apart from us. The 2600 will always be by our side to comfort us when we're feeling low and provide some fun and laughs when we need them.

And the 2600 will never, ever, deny us sex. If you're into that kind of thing, of course.

So our homage continues with the official page's upgrade, where you will notice the already beefy review section has been further beefy-fied with dozens of new titles added to thrill and amaze. More will be added over the course of the week but we wanted to share the joys of the system with you today.

After you peruse, share your memories of this great system with your forum mates here:

http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4151

And as always... GAME ON.

Ive been talking smack about the Atari for years( as far back as I can remember) I thought I would never like Atari.
The other day at a yard sale , I picked up 15 Atari games+ Coleco adapter!
I love atari!!! The grafix are way better than i thought!
(Pfffft...Intellivision....what was I thinking....)

I have to say, since I wanted to meet Sniderman at CGE and sadly did not get the chance, I decided to make sure he was there in spirit and buy Venture II instead.

And it ROCKS.

My heart was pretty broken after a 3-day session of Video Chess when the damn thing stole my queen! If that's not cheating....

And it ROCKS. Thank yew for the kind words. :D Even cooler, there's a fellow at AA who has actually implemented the THIRD level into 2600 Venture by increasing the game to 8K. He's debugging it right now, but it seems to be nearly complete. He may even have enough room left over to implement the room tunes as well. I find that rather nifty.

I would say how much I love Atari but I don't have one. My parents had one when I was little but I didn't know much about video games and I wasn't a collector then. The just GAVE the thing away to our neighbor. I have a couple Atari games but I'm not sure which Atari they work on. They are called "Asteroids" and "Combat". They are shaped like a rectangular prism and I see no circuit board sticking out of the bottom. I am very curious as to how they work if the circuit board isn't sticking out of it. Does the Atari system have some boards in it that slide up into those two slots in the bottom of the cartridge?

(better not let Infogrames find out its Atari Week here, they'll shut it down faster than you can say "bigpileofgreedybastards.")

Anyway, Atari DEFINITELY rules! Its what I was raised on as a kid and its still the #1 sytsem in my house. I take some heat from my modern console friends, but there is nothing better than spending a few hours trying to get Bentley Bear out of the the evil Witch's castle (sadly, he'll never make it)

Atari 2600 is tops! :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Speaking of which what is a good price to pay on e-bay for:

- A like-new 2600
- a good condition 2600 with joysticks

Just wonderin'

I'm getting the feeling there's a connection between this "Atari 2600" and the punks trying to steal my urn. When I find out what it is... EXPECT A BAT AND TARANTULA ATTACK LIKE YOU'VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE!!!

so 30? for a mint one...or a good one?
Im guessing the "good" one.

So what would be a price for a mint 2600....what about a mint 7800, and a boxed new or as-new 7800.

Thinking of buying ...dont wanna get ripped off - plizz help

I was going to make myself a cool 2600 avatar, but now the week's half over so I'll just take one from the gallery.

Hooray for the 2600!

EDIT: OK, I did make one.

I bought a boxed Atari 2600 Jr. from Maxlords in the buying and selling forum a month or two ago for $20 -- and it came with joysticks, and 20 games! It pays to check the buying and selling forum often!

Funny too, with "I love Atari" week I've made a bit more headway by getting some boxes for my Activision Atari 2600 collection. :) I now have Barnstorming, Decathalon and Seaquest boxed.

Maybe sooner (http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=56647) than you would expect. But I suppose you knew that already. :)
