Hey! I own DDR MAX 2 and EXTREME... Is it even worth laying out the $30 for the first DDR MAX (and why)? Are the songs really any different (better?)

Oh, and if anyone has a copy of DDR Disney Mix for PSone, that may accidentally find it's way into a CD burner, and then something just happens to fall into my mailbox, let me know.

Thanks!!!

I'm gonna say YES on that one. The first MAX is a much better game, IMO. Actually, I think that's also the opinion of many people who actually play a lot of DDR, which I am not. It's the last true DDR game released here that is pure Japanese in terms of song selection. Konami started bastardizing them with MAX2 (Crystal Method and Dirty Vegas, God love 'em), but Extreme takes away a a large portion of Japanese tunes and replaces them with stuff tailored for American consumption, like YMCA and Cher. Junior Senior is the only cool thing on that game.

Yeah, Max is definitely worth it. It's probably the only US release that's leaps and bounds above its Japanese counterpart. Too bad Sandstorm didn't get insane steps, though. Heh.

Get DDRMAX. It's better than MAX2, and odds are it's better than Extreme.

You'll have GAMBOL.

Yeah, I picked up Extreme over the weekend, so I have MAX, MAX2, and Extreme now.

They go in that order too:

1. MAX
2. MAX2
3. Extreme

If you ask me, MAX is where it's at. It has the best songs, the best interface, and is the most fun to play. When I put Extreme in over the weekend, I was really somewhat disappointed. I'm not sure what all there is to unlock though, but the song selection really isn't that great. It's got a few songs that I really enjoy playing (Kick the Can among a few others), but after playing Extreme for an hour, I ended up putting MAX in and playing it instead.

I hope they make a "best of" DDR like they did with Konamix on PS1

My girlfriend, the DDR fiend in our house, adores Max2 over Max1 or Ultramix. We don't have extreme yet, so can't compare.

Hmm, then maybe getting Max might be better then trying Extreme for my first time...

Definitely. Especially when you consider that crippling bug in Extreme where you can't disable directional input from square, x, triangle, and circle.
