Recently, I received several emails about selling a game after the auction ends. Why is it that some people want to purchase an eBay game after the auction is over?

If the auction went without any bids, and they didn't want to rile up any competition, see. I've had times where I've thought of doing it.

Yep. Usually if I'm looking for a game, I'll look at the completed auctions first to get an idea of what it's going for at the time. If I see an auction that had a pretty low starting bid, didn't get any bidders, and hasn't been relisted, then I'll usually fire off a message to see if the seller will part with it for the opening bid amount. Of course, I'd prefer to have the seller relist it as a private auction in that case, because then there's the threat of bad feeback to deter nonperformance.
So at least in some cases it's just because the potential buyer didn't see your auction while it was open for bids. I can't speak for anyone trying to pull some sort of sketchy scam, tho.

I've done that a couple times. I have a bad habit of forgetting auctions I want to bid on. :/ So far I haven't gotten any problems about it. The sellers have been nice enough to still sell to me. I buy stuff outside of eBay all the time, so it's no big deal to me that I don't have the "protection" of eBay.

if someone bid and won then i have a problem with that....but if it ends with no bids then there is nothing wrong with that

I've had auctions where I've listed it, seen 3 or 4 people watching it and within minutes of it ending, they have mailed me with a low ball offer

People who don't bid so that they can buy the product after the auction at a "low price"! This is actually a disturbing trend...

Obviously the market demand at that price is zero, folks. Take the lowball offer or try again, but they're entitled to try!

My auctions start at 1 penny and always sell. Never had an unsold item.
I have had people ask me to sell outside ebay and I tell them "bid on ebay like everyone else if you want it"

Obviously the market demand at that price is zero, folks.I disagree. Just because an auction ends, doesn't mean the item is not valuable. It should only mean that there are no capable bidders at the time of the auction. If a watcher forgets to bid on the item, that's one thing. But for a watcher to intentionally not bid and to ask for a low price after an auction ends unbidded, there's something wrong with that (especially if the auction price was fair). Try doing that at a local auction block; it won't work.

Can you not read? At that price, nobody wanted to bid on your item. Now you're right, there's a couple silly kids out there who WOULD have bid on that item had they been around; that's a given. But they weren't around, so we aren't concerned with them. If you want to try to catch one of those suckers next time, relist the item. My advice stands!

I don't think it's as disturbing as the folks who pay through the nose just to buy a garden variety POS. They're the ones who push the prices up for everyone...whether the item's worth it or not...
