Gee lets see, should I spend the 16,500.00 on a new pretty decent car, a down payment on a new house or a computer that my desktop calculator can out perform? Tough question, I think I am leaning toward the Apple 1. :D

Can I point out something? Didn't the original Apple I go on sale for $666.66 in 1976? I'd have a hard time believing that they'd cut their cost to 1/3 in just 4 months after its release. I'm not saying it's not a real Apple I, I'm saying I think the circumstances (the check which looks too modern, the "bought it from the garage") is :bullshit:

the bottom check for 200 or so is for software or something the top check is for 600 and for the comp, you can see them better on the site he linked to in the auction

Yes, Apples were made in a garage.
Yes, they cut their cost as the thing really was very limited in its potential.
This auction goes to Sotheby's, not eBay! LOL
Good investment someday, but the days of finding these for a decent price are OVER. Get a Lisa/Mac XL instead.
