Has anyone seen any homebrew games on the genesis? Are there any reliable sources for creating these? I've found a few, but the sources are so poor in their explanations of the tools used, that I doubt they actually developed anything.
I'm willing to learn 68k Asm to write my own Genesis/Megadrive game!!!!
Tototek sells MD/Genesis Flash carts.

Good Deal Games has released new games for the SegaCD.
I've been thinking of learning 68K ASM too for the same reason. I've read the Genesis programming documents but I haven't done anything beyond that.

I see that the few developers that have actually come up with something made it for sega-cd because it's easy to press/burn cd's.
I figure if the Atari homebrew community can make carts, the Sega community should be able to as well. Considering the history with unlicensed carts on the Genesis, it's been done.
I just can't seem to find the homebrew community. Either it's very well burried or it's not a community yet!

I forgot to ask what have you found?
I've seen the Sega CD Development (http://www.pages.drexel.edu/~mrp29/segacd.html) page and the Information on Sega's breakthru (http://www.classicgaming.com/epr/genesis.htm) page. Are there any I'm missing?

You've found more than I have. I found an obscure barely working site that has a 68k assembler. It gives a very basic intro on getting started, like converting hex to binary and vice versa, but nothing usefull.
I wasn't looking at segacd, that's probably the mistake I made.

homebrew game...I would say Divine Sealing, pretty darn close in that it's unlicensed. Yeah, I know that's no help...
get some source from emulators and especially GYM plugins - might help you learn the code some.
Wouldn't be harder to make homebrews for the Genny since the hardware went through so many revisions to lockout unlicensed games?

As for it being difficult with hardware revisions, I dont think so. The Z80 was added on to have backwards compatability w/ the master system. If that chip is ignored and we have the code to pass the lockout we should be ok.

Check out http://plg.lrn.ru/console/svalka/sega/ for one link. This is the document I was referring to when I said I read the programming document.

I've skimmed through about 30 pages of the sega2.doc. Pretty detailed info. Very interesting and useful information so far.

Maybe that 68k Assembly text I used in university can finally be put to good use again. :D

The 68k is old, shouldn't be any trouble finding old books on it's ASM programming. Any recommendations?

I have the tototek flash cart, and I have to say is the coolest piece of hardware I´ve ever seen....you can flash it with all your genesis/32x "demos"

Flashcarts are cool, but the emulators are good enough for now. I wonder how hard it would be to produce an actual cartridge, like the Atari Folks do?
