Being one of the reportedly lucky people in the San Francisco area to snag a copy of Katamari Damacy, I've been thoroughly enjoying it. However, I seem to be stuck on Make a Star 7. The best I've done is get around 4 meters (5 is the objective). I must be doing something wrong. When you hit 3 meters, the king points out a way to get to another area, by going onto a rooftop. The only way I've found to get onto this rooftop is from the gated schoolyard area, going through the hole in the brick wall. But to get over the schoolyard gate, it seems that I need to be significantly bigger than 3 meters.

The way I do it is I start by following the trail of bananas, then pick up all the other things I can find in the seaside park area. Then I go down to the little beach, and grab what I can there. Then I go and get some of the bigger things I wasn't able to get before. Then I go through the water to get to the little dock, where I pick up lots of fish and a couple people. Then I go through the town, getting stuck and hit by that damn swan car a lot. Then, if I manage to get big enough, I go over the gate, into the schoolyard, grab all the schoolkids, go part the "over 3 M" sign into the new area, grab what I can, then time runs out. What am I doing wrong?

I just beat Star 7 tonight, and it was much harder than any previous level, even with the following tip:

After you go through the school yard, exit through the same hole in the brick wall you got in through. Then, instead of going down, go up. It doesn't look like there's a hill to go up, but there is. When you go up you'll find more city area and more things to collect.

It took me about 5 times to beat this level. I can't say enough good things about the game myself. My son and I have been having a blast spending time together and playing through it. I'm sure he'll have nostalgia for the game when he gets older, like I have nostalgia playing Warlords Atari 2600 with my dad. This is the best console arcasde style game in years.

I'm stuck on this level as well. I do pretty much the same you're doing and have even gotten up to 5m 41cm. Any help is appreciated.

Was 5 metres the objective? I remember it being 6...

Anyway, this one took me about 5-10 tries. The 2 strategies I found necessary for me were spend as much time grabbing and as little time exploring as possible when you're in the lower part of the level; and make sure to backtrack. Backtracking's probably the thing that most helped me pass it; as soon as you slow down gathering stuff in one area, backtrack to one you've been before since you'll pick up stuff there much quicker, unless you can already advance to a new area of course. It's especially helpful after you've done a run of the main town level for the first time.

Heh, oddly enough, I tried this level 3 times last night and my highest score has been 4m20cm or something close to that.

Try being about 4 or 5 meters before you even go to the second area of town. (the 3m+ section)

Once you are big enough, you can break down the gates to the city that has the garden clock, and massive growth ensues. Once done cleaning up there, return to the second city and clean up there. Don't forget the cows and sheep by the farmhouse.

Also be sure to roll up every person and guardrail you see as they help immensly in increasing your size. My max was somewhere around 9m55cm.

Ugh, I'm making the moon now. 300m in 25 minutes. It's like you waste a half an hour if you don't make it.

star 7 was pretty hard...it took me 4 tries

star 8 on the other hand was a lot of fun....i beat it first try and my katamari was 18m55cmXXmm

i cant wait to try the next level...i had to quit for a little bit bc my roomie wanted to watch a movie with some chick, so he needed the tv

this game is amazing and i highly recommend that everyone that has a PS2 pick it up.....immediately

I started off by picking up all the small stuff I could first, and try not to get bumped around too much. You'll spend most of your time just in the normal town. When you are big enough to pick up thse lolly pop things you should be able to roll over the gate without picking it up. Then it's aeasy from there cause there is a bunch of stuff in the school yard.

Just wait till you get to Make the Moon, it has to be 300 meters @_@

yea, i just did that last night myself

my one and only problem with this game is that it is a little short
i wish that besides going back and getting everything (like all the presents) there was more to do, but this game is short

dont get me wrong, its still an amazing game....just a little short
