As I've gotten back into gaming on the Genesis thanks to the recent purchase of a Genny 2, I find I really don't like that model. Ugly, chinsy feeling, UGH.

Anyway, I'm on the hunt for a Genesis model 1. It's got style, it's got curves, plus it has the nostalgia of having the same type model I owned when they first came out. But I'm not looking for any model 1. I'm looking for the machines that came out with Altered Beast-the ones I can play EA and Ballistic games on.

If anyone has a spare in decent shape with at least the power supply, shoot me a PM or leave a message here. I don't have a lot of trade stuff but here's what I got:

-Saturn: Burning Rangers (disc only)
-NES: Pirates (cart only)
-NES: Legend of Zelda and Zelda II (grey carts only)
-PC: Phantasmagoria (original sleeves and instructions)

And of course cold hard cash.

Thanks!

I have a boxed Genny 1 for sale :

Sega Genesis model 1 (box in fair shape, a bit damaged +tray+AV cable+Power Supply+rf switch+3 buttons controller)

25$+shipping

But how can we know it's compatible with EA games ?

When Sega released the Genesis 1 with Sonic the Hedgehog, they also included a security measure so "unlicensed" games couldn't be played. So I wanna say that any Genesis manufactured on or during 1991 (if the model 1's have that info stamped/printed on them) are the "new" Model 1's. Also I'm pretty sure if you power it up and it has the Sega licensing info with whatever cart you pop in, that's also one with the lock out.

I know, I ask for the moon :D

You do realize that any Genesis can play those early games if you simply use a game genie but don't input any codes.

I got Budokan to play on a Model 2 & a Nomad.

Oh sure I know that but I'd like the actual machine than just a work around. Plus my current Gen 2 that I bought from Goodwill isn't in the best shape internally. Didn't find that out until playing around with it a while. Hence why I posted this.
