:? hmmm, I'm not so sure that's a good thing.. Square could do more harm than good and bury Enix's innovative tendancies in a blanket of cheap sequels and never-ending unimaginatively recycled plot and gameplay rehashes.. -_-

The Enix and Square styles are SO diffrent this can't be anything good....
BUT maybe this could mean good things for the DW 4 re-make since Square is all about re-makes.

Vagrant Valkyrie. Oh yeah.

Yes, I'm excited about this. Contrary to what's been said above, I don't find Square's offerings any less imaginative than Enix's, so a union of the two could make for some excellent games. It's more likely that the companies will stick to separate developments for the near future, but there are bound to be joint projects further down the road.

Still, there's something not quite right about two traditionally competitive RPG entities joining forces with so little preamble. What's next, Capcom and SNK teaming up, or Sega making games for Nintendo?

Oh, wait. Nevermind.

Hopefully one result of this blessed union is the proliferation of Enix games here in North America. Hooray for increased distribution!

I would like to point out that it isn't really a merger. Enix are actually buying a 55% controlling stake in Square. Consequently Sony's share holding now drops to around 8%. I would think Enix would wield more influence over Square's output than the other way around...

I find this exciting that the 2 biggest RPG companies ar emerging but kinda disturbing. Seeing how Enix almost disappeared entirely once before and Square had been going mostly strong up to now and perhaps still is even with their finicial problems that Square would give itself up (so to speak) to Enix.

I just hope they don't try to integrate design studios. I can't stand Square's newer stuff and I LOVE Enix...so I'm apprehensive about this whole merger business.

WHOA, gotta go change my pants!

At the VERY least maybe we'll get some of the DW games released BEFORE the systems die now...

BTW, Enix never disappeared, they just don't like translating, so they never release anything stateside. They've been constantly releasing games in japan. My hope is that we'll see more of enix's games over here. I'm starting to not care very much about Square.... They know why they're losing money and they keep making it worse. (Get back to RPG'S, cut this action crap out....)

I'd love to see a retro disc of Dragon Warrior 1-6 come out of this at some point myself.
