Was there ever a home console version of the classic arcade game Rally-X? I used to love playing that game when I was a kid. Seems like it would have been easy to have ported to one of the Atari consoles.

A search turned up the following versions of Rally-X:
Arcade -- Rally-X: Namco, 1980
Arcade -- Hot Race: Bootleg, 1980
Arcade -- New Rally-X: Namco, 1981
MSX -- Rally-X: Namco, 1984
2600 -- Rally-X: Unknown
So the plot thickens. It sounds like it could have been in prototype form or at least talked about for the 2600. At least the MSX version is confirmed to exist.

I loved that game too.
Not quite the same, but I also greatly enjoyed the marginally similar Dodge 'Em on the VCS.

Namco Museum Vol. 1 for PSX has (New and Original verisons)
Namco TV Jakk Games (Part of the Pac-Man collection)
are the only two solid ports of the classic imho, but it would have been nice on Atari with the rest of the Namco titles

I liked the one on the new joystick to TV thing with the rest of the Namco greats. I never played the original though, so I have nothing to compare it to.

There was a port made for the Commodore, but due to copyrights it was changed to Radar Rat Race. The game's identical, except instead of cars, they're rats.

The thing that drives me nuts when it comes to the Jakks 5-in-1 version of it is that they superimpose the radar over the action, and that makes things very confusing. In the real Rally-X, the radar was off to one side in its own part of the screen.

I may be mistaken, but I'm almost positive that I saw a picture of a pirate Famicom Rally-X cartridge on AtariAge somewhere a long long time ago... I'll have to see if I can find the thread again... Ah, here it is (http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=328292). That label certainly looks like a scene out of Rally-X, although I'm not sure what the red dogs are all about... Knowing pirate's, the game might not have anything at all to do with Rally-X, but still... Anyone have this one?

Although not console, don't forget about the version in Namco Classic Collection Volume 2 at the arcades :)

p.s. Probably really obvious, but may be new to some.. Ever notice that Rally X and Bosconian have exactly the same screen layouts?

They do that with Bosconinan as well... plus there's no voice. Just not the same game without that weird synthesized voice going "ALUUT! ALUUT!"
