This may go better in off topic, but since we actually have a 'smart' group of posters here as opposed to some of the idiots that hang out on OTHER boards, I thought I'd ask the opinions of others who are playing these games.
Any thoughts on how best to handle your team in the off season?
The new changes made to the Madden franchise make it rather hard to field a team and operate it close to what the NFL does. I mean, it's more realistic, but it's also a HECK of a lot harder.
Take my Pats, for example. Madden is a little off from reality by showing the team has having almost 20 million in cap room, where as 2K5 is better by showing the team close to the limit, as they are in real life.
In the old days, I used to re-sign my players, and sign new draft pics, to as long a contract as they would take, and just trade them very easily to other teams in order to make room as need be. I could loot the free agency market to get the best players to upgrade rough spots in my old roster.
Now after just one year, I'm wondering how to handle the team in later years. All of that generous cap room is gone, just be re-signing a few veterns. It also seems you get big cap penalities for signing players and then trading them.
At least I can get the Pats through that first year offseason. With the cap room so much tighter in 2K5, I can't even do that. x_x
Any general thoughts or advice?
