I just recently read in an old magazine that there are actually two Bowsers at the end of Super Mario Bros. 3....the first one is of course the one that you walk into orignally, and the second is if you maintain a P-wing you can fly all the way to the top of right side screen after defeating the first Bowser you get to fight a second in one room over...
Is this true?!?!

Are they different in any way?

The 2nd one wears an overly large cowboy hat.

Is this just an NES glitch or does this trick remain in All-Stars and in Super Mario Advance 4?

The way I read it, the second one was just a fireball-less Bowser. I never heard about the "Fight them both" part.

But is it a glitch, or purpose?

Anyway, if you have P-Wing, why not just fly straight up from the center and wait for Bowser to break through the floor while trying to hit you? (Since you're higher than he can jump, he'll just keep jumping to the center of the screen and eventually through the floor... In theory.)

Funny, I thought this was gonna be about Sunshine and Baby Bowser.. hey! here's a random out of the blue wild thought. MAYBE the other Bowser is the MOTHER! And when Mario kills her in the other room, Bowser escapes with their son and raises him to hate Mario claiming that Peach was his mother and Mario was trying to kidnap her?! Yeah! That explains EVERYTHING!
