Made a trade yesterday with christianscott, and now Odyssey 2 is my most complete collection at 61%, narrowly beating out my Atari 5200 collection which still stands at 60% complete.

Atari 7800 and Intellivision are close behind at 53% and 48% respectively.

Also getting some help from yesterday's trade were my Atari 2600 and Colecovision collections which are now up to 43% and 35% respectively. Thanks Chris!

Bringing up the rear is my VIC-20 collection at a mere 18%.

Hey, who wants to write a program to spit out percentages on complete collections? I want to say %'s, but am too lazy to whip out the calculator :D

always glad to trade, thanks keir!

so yesterdays trade brought me to i dunno 85% on NES and 60% on 32x. i still have more than 50% to go on SNES and Genesis but i see those collections growing rapidly in 2003. the real challenge is cramming more shelves into my gameroom, i wont rest until the walls are covered.

still the best item from the trade has to the Q*bert's adventures children's book.

You really don't need a program. I just put the numbers into an Excel spreadsheet.

If you put your collections into spreadsheets (Excel), it'll give you percentages, averages, standard deviations, and all sorts of useless information you can impress your friends with. My personal favorite is a category for "percent games beaten," which is the percentage of my collection I have played through or beaten (not counting "endless games" like Tetris). Currently my NES count stands at a lowly 11.3%. :cry: But considering how many games I have, that means I've conquered roughly 30 or so games in my collection. That's not SO bad.

Thilly DPers, I'm LAZY. Putting an excel anything into something would take TIME, which I would use doing other things. Like humping Achika :D :D :D :D :D

Then again, how hard is it to count game amounts, and divide by the total? Yeah, I am lazy.

I've started collecting and gaming but really haven't figured what and how to collect yet myself for my present systems.

Welp, since the topic is percentages, I checked out my collection's totals:

Intellivision: 82% done
Aquarius: 42% done
32x: 42% done
Master System: 46% done
2600: 27% done (estimate)
5200: 54% done
7800: 66% done
NES: 7% done (estimate)
Jaguar: 56% done
Lynx: 37% done

Not sure how many Colecovision games there were.. I got 23 so far.

Most of the system counts you need are right here:

As President Bush prepares for the first State of the Union address of his second term, I have decided to reflect on the State of My Collection. My fellow Digital Press forum members, the state of my collection has never been stronger. :D

I'm proud to say that my largest and most complete collection is for the Atari 2600 at 82% complete.

This is followed by both the Intellivision and Odyssey 2 systems, tied at 80% complete.

Other systems of note include:
Atari 7800 - 70%
ColecoVision - 55%
Commodore 64 (cartridges) - 33%
Genesis - 30%
Laseractive - 44%
Sega 32X - 42%
Turbografx-16 - 30%
VIC-20 (cartridges) - 50%
Virtual Boy - 36%

It's come a long way in just over a year, especially for the Atari 2600 and VIC-20 collections! You may have noticed (probably not) that I didn't count the Atari 5200. I got rid of my entire collection last summer so it now stands at 0% and most likely will stay there for a long time. Need to start working on my Atari 8-bit computer cart collection to take its place (right now it's at a mere 8%).

The only one I know for sure is Virtual Boy, which is 100%... I know I'm around 50% for Saturn, Odyssey2, Vectrex, N64... probably around 25% for NES and 30% for 2600.

Oh, and 50% for Tg16/TGCD.

I think the % completion of a system's catalog should take into account the rarity of the individual games. For example it is quite easy to have a 90% complete 7800 collection. It's that last 10% that gets tricky. I propose the following system:

R1 = 1 pt.
R2 = 2pts.
R3 = 3pts.
.
.
.
R10 = 10 pts

The first column below shows percantage completion without weighting the second column includes weighting.

NES = 59% = 49%
7800 = 58% = 44%
5200 = 54% = 44%
32x = 26% = 21%

A big bump but...

Hmmm... does anything change around here?! :P LOL
