Anyone going to this gaming con in a couple weeks?

Hmmm... interesting. I'd love it if there was a cool gaming convention in NYC, but this one doesn't seem too appealing... It seems more like a convention for general tech junkies to have all the latest products pushed on them.

Oh well, your loss I guess.
Maybe I'll check it out. Can't hurt, right?

actually, it WAS a gaming only event initially and was supposed to be held at madison square garden, but they teamed up with digital life and are now at the javits center. think of the show as a new york version of the old CES (with an east coast vibe), and how could you NOT want to go? besides, where else are you gonna see that new hdtv you'll need to be playing games on in about a year or two? LOL

Actually this sounds more like a show that was held at the New york Coluseum for two years in the early eighties by Electronic Fun magazine. CES wasn't open to the public (except for a couple years where they opened one day to the public).
Anyway, I have a press pass waiting for me so I'll check out Digital Life one of the days.

lol! oh man- i actually remember hearing about that 80's show from a friend whose parents took him, but i'd forgotten about it until now- thanks leonard!
the CES reference was about the combination of new tech stuff and the latest games in one place (although i don't think the game area will be hard to find- at all just follow the rappers and the G4 cameras, lol)...

Registrations only $20ish, not much to lose really! Many my friends going to be there various days, look for Final Fantasy, Guily Gear or other SNK cosplayers and that's likely some of them. lol

x_x um... i think cosplaying is banned at the javits center, what with national security concerns and all. guess they don't want spiky haired kids tromping about the area with pointy fake swords and plastic guns. the cops here shoot anything that even looks suspicious, and someone with blue hair and a big sword is a prime target LOL

This was a really shitty show.
Portnoyd & I stopped by last night to check it out. Mostly cell phones, PDAs, personal robots, etc. Barely any actual gaming things, even for PC. There were plenty of Xbox kiosks set up playing games that are going to be released soon and have seen the light of day for a month or so.
It was laid out horribly and barely any free stuffs.

Yep, I had a feeling that it would be lame... I'm glad I didn't waste any money on it.

We want our $12 back. If I wanted to see some goons on rollerblades with hockey sticks, and idiots in a mock kitchen for AOL Broadband I'd.... uhh... go back tomorrow.
Major thumbs down. Very far from a game show.

Sadly I couldn't make it with work. Been nice to go up and see my friends working there and doing some costumes though.
If my girlfriend sucked as bad as this show did I would be a much happier man with a raw penis.
