Went to flea market today and got lifeforce(nes), super punchout and Rocket Knight Adventures for genesis. I figured konami platformer couldn't be TOO bad. wow this game is fun :) every stage is different. i got up to the lvl 3 fish boss which kicked my ass, but damn this game is fun, i never really even heard of it before.

I hadn't heard about it until last year sometime when someone on a GameFAQs social board was looking for it, and I read a little bit about it. I saw it at an EBGames for $5 and I picked it up. Yep, its a good one all right.

Ah yes, one of the best games for the genesis IMO. Just to let you know, their is also a sequal called "sparkster" for both the genesis and snes. Best part is that they both play different.

Kick ass (yeah, I said it). I love Rocket Knight, so I'm definately going to go pick up Sparkster.

Rocket Knight Adventure is a must own for any Genesis/SNES fans who loves Konami, I had it on Genesis and I loved it, awesome little platformer, should be ported to GBA I think

The gradius cameo mini-boss was so worth it in stage 5

I don't know why no one told you... but it HAS been on our TOP 50 GENESIS LIST pretty much forever!

Look here so you don't miss any other great Genny games.

Agreed. I played a little bit and got stuck on some wall. I think perhaps I'll have to go back and conquer that wall since there's quite a bit of great praise about this game.

best platformer on the genesis hands down. the visuals and sound alone are second only to treasure's stuff on the genesis, IMO.

heh, yes i still need gunstar heros...and alot of other genesis games considering i have about 7. it's weird how 1 game can make you fall in love with a system, and i think this game is doing it to me. i feel an onslaught of genny titles filling my shelves in the near future. rocket knight keeps getting better, got to stage 5.

Ah yes, Rocket Knight Adventures is one of those Genesis gems that seems to have been forgotten. One of my all time favorite Genesis platformers, right up there with another forgotten classic, Ristar.

...You never heard this game was great?! Where you been at?......One of my favorite genisis games, but it does get a little challenging. BTW, how does the sequel compare? I've never played it....

I'd probably go so far as to say that it's my favorite Genesis game. It's a tough call for me to put it above Shining Force 1 and 2, but it's THAT good.

Sparkster rocks too. Great sequel, IMO. Kinda wish they'd made an Axel Gear game too, just for the heck of it.

since no one said it I guess I will...

because you never asked!

but rocket knight was one of those things where you can play it one of two ways, you slowly plod through it on foot or you just rocket through the levels with rocket pack...I kinda did a little from column A, a little from column B....

forgot about the sequel though gotta try that out

If you have to just mention one game to describe the quality the Genesis is capable of, RKA would be a great candidate. I don't know what's better, the luscious and cutesy-yet-effective graphics, the Michiru Yamane-based sound, or... eh, it's gotta be the gameplay. So much innovation is crammed into this game, like using the reflective surface of the lava to detect obstructed platforms in stage 3. But what really floored me were the extraordinarily difficult boss fights. When first playing this game, my ass was constantly owned by the second boss. >_<

If all Konami Genesis titles were going to be like RKA, they should have made more. The original remains my fave, but I really like the two sequels, Sparkster and... Sparkster. Konami really should have given the SNES game a different title to distinguish it from the Genesis sequel. Those silly funsters at Konami, will they ever learn? LOL

Rocket Knight is awesome. I was surprised at how good it was as I thought it was another "me too" platformer.

As for Sparkster, the Genesis version plays like a cross between the original Rocket Knight and Sonic, while the SNES version is more like a true sequel. Very different games. I feel that the SNES version has the edge as it also has more variety to the gameplay. I have the both and play the SNES version more often

Damn my secret is out! Now everyone will know the greatness that is Rocket Knight.

Because you didn't ask us! LOL

Anyways, RKA was one of the games on the top of my want list when I got my Genesis earlier this year. Fortunately, it was the only game my brother didn't get rid of when he got rid of all his Genesis stuff years ago. He gave it to me for free. :) I never beat the game back in the day, so I intend to play through it soon.

Nice finds!

I enjoyed the hell out of RKA and both Sparksters. Excellent, excellent games they are.
