Just for fun, I decided to look up my very first Ebay feedback comment, mainly to see when I started. It was longer ago then I thought...the first feedback was from later in the month of October...7 years ago. I figured I'd only been using Ebay for about 5 years.

There are many members here with much higher feedback and on eBay longer, too! This is a veteran crowd, remember.

i don't know and i can't check, but i think since somwhere 1999, when ebay started it's german department...
the reason i can't check? ebay banned my first account without a warning in advance and without a reason i know of, i had no negative feedback, no pending deals, nothing.... (actually i had 2 or 3 negatives but those were not for a good reason and were later revisioned by those people in the comments)

If you must know, yes... I'm collecting all of the GC exclusives.
You may not have noticed but I'm not just a gamer, I'm a collector. Sometimes that means picking up less than playable games to achieve a goal.

Ive been a member since Sept 24 1998.
Ive been around forever, but ive only got a small amount of feedback considering. I tend to hit eBay in waves, buying for a few months, and then not touching it for 6 months to a year.

Despite the account's age, I only have a rating of 38 (50 all together). My first eBay purchase was an original NES with loose copies of Castlevania 2, Astyanax, and Friday the 13th. After many years of being without NES, I used eBay to recover my childhood. :) I've sort of moved on to using a different account now (my boyfriend's), and it's from:
May-15-01
It just hit 50 today (58 including multiples from same people). :) I don't have the big bucks to spend tons on eBay, and I'm not the type to buy a million tiny little cheap things. My purchases are usually for a fair amount of cash. I actually spend much more elsewhere online from small stores and marketplace forums.

Just 110 feedbacks though - there'd be a lot more if everyone would leave feedback for their auctions.

I hear ya... I make a point to leave feedback for every single person I do business with, so it annoys me when they don't leave feedback back. I don't even want to know how much feedback I'd have if I actually received it from every person...

I have had my own account for about 4 years now, and before that I was using my fathers account and that started in 1996 I think. I've been using it from just about the start. But I don't use it that much.

Hey DP i'm kinda in the Same boat i'v just started collecting for the American Gamecube, i'v collected around 50 titles in the last month or so, i'm around the 100 mark, and yes when collecting you have to pick up some of the trash that gets released.
But i hit abit of a block about a week ago, i got a Modded xbox for my birthday last sunday, and it was fully loaded with all the usual emu's / 8 games on the HD / etc, etc... and i can't get over how sweet it is, now i'm kinda thinkin errrrr should i carry on collecting for the GC?

No, sometimes that means you have to pick up COMPLETELY horrible games that really suck, just to achieve that goal. Which I have to do ALL the time.

I'm waiting for this to happen. It's only a matter of time. I almost never neg people unless they really piss me off. a significant percentage of folks on eBay don't understand the feedback system and what negative or neutral means. Ah, well.
My neutral in the last year was left by a woman who complained that the $5 Lion King SNES cart wasn't cleaned enough. I would have been happy to refund her money if she had contacted me AT ALL getting the item.

Since late 2003, when I sold the copy of Madden Championship Edition for Genesis that I got free. :D (I would have offered it here first, but I hadn't really gotten on the boards yet.)
I've gotten some of my better SMS stuff on the 'bay...managed not to pay too much, either. Positive experiences so far. Lots of vinyl for my brother's turntable habit, too. :)

Where I live FINDING a game pre-playstation in the wild is IMPOSSIBLE. I could go 50 miles in every direction and not find ONE Atari cart.

This explains my SMS finds -- I can get the common stuff (Great sports games and a few others) locally, but everything else can only be had online.

Makes the hunt even more fun. Once you've found the place and get your retro games, you'll feel like you just caught the greatest pokemon! :)
Keep looking, I'm sure your town isn't much worse than mine. Those atari games are out there man.

I doubt it would be more fun to find less. Really, some areas are just devoid of stuff to find, although I haven't found many. Consider leaving a nondescript calling card with antique markets, putting out classified ads, or doing flea market weekend trips.
Card example:
Ian
925-xxx-xxxx
Atari Nintendo and most other old video games
(don't go with the 'Video Game Collectibles' and $$$$ paid for video games thing on the card.)

Its a nice idea, but most anitque shops ive seen, dont heavily carry the game stuff. But Thrifts, which are all over do and theres no way that they'd remember your card or anything unless you were a regular and just bought everything as it was.

Damn, I really didn't even think ebay had been around that long - but thinking about it, yeah, I suppose it has been around for all those years. Anyway, I don't think I actually registered until 1999 or so... it could have been late 1998 - but it definitely wasn't past mid 1999.

Well, there is Yahoo Auctions. They're probably small-time compared to Ebay...for instance, I don't see Weird Al doing a Yahoo Auctions song...but they're there. I haven't checked Yahoo Auctions out in a couple of years...

You live in the bay area? I don't any more, but you definitely can find things in thrifts, at flea markets and at yard sales there. It's alot of work to hunt! I suspect that I find something video game at 1 in 10 yard sales. If you aren't thrilled by the hunt, you best stick to eBay. There are alot of good deals out there.

I've been using Ebay since April 1999.
I remember checking the site out because i heard a radio commercial for it.
Ebay was alot less popular back then and aquiring just about anything was much easier.
