I recently obtained a Turbo CD and have some questions about these units.

Question 1: It came with a Version 2.0 CD System card. This will not play CD-ROM2 games. If I happen to find a Version 3 CD System card, would this enable me to play CD-ROM2 games? Or is there more to it than that?

Question 2: The unit often fails to spin the disc. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks guys...

Question 2: The unit often fails to spin the disc. Has anyone else had this problem?.

Yes, and I was unable to repair it, let alone locate the problem.

Solution? I bought a Duo.

I kinda suspected maybe things were headed in this direction...

As for the first question?

Couldn't really tell you, but Duo's also have the 3.0 card built in.

I had the same problem, I had to format my system:

To do this, turn on the system and press select on your controller. Go to "Format" and press I three times. "End" then I again. To soft reset the system hold down "Run" and press "select". After saving your games to the Backup RAM, you might want to delete them to open up space. Turn on the system and press "Select". Go to "Delete" and select the files you want and press the I button. If you want to delete everything, repeat the formatting process described above when you first use your TG CD unit.

It should. ;)

Anything that's not Super CD or Arcade CD should play with that setup.

I thought a Super CD was the same thing as CD-ROM2?

So a Version 3 card would play CD-ROM1 and CD-ROM2 games, but not Super CD games?

I belivee it's in this order

CD
CD2 - System 2 Card
SuperCD - System 3 Card/ Duo
ArcadeCD - two versions for PCE Duo and PC Engine as it's JPN only
