It's a JVC X-Eye.

Never seen one in person, but that's what's printed on the top of the unit. ;)

It's basically a Sega Genesis and a Sega CD combined into one unit.

I think it's called the Wondermega in Japan and maybe Europe as well.

The X'Eye is actually the Wondermega 2. The original Wondermega is pretty rare, but much cooler than the X'Eye visually.

I have an X'Eye and it is fantastic. The only smaller and better looking version of the Genesis/Sega CD combo is the CDX. Supposedly the X'Eye has a faster/better CD drive, so loading times are shorter. Can't vouch for that one. Also has a wide, rectangular cartridge slot so Mega Drive games fit without a converter or case mod. Only the games with a software lockout need a converter. Despite rumors to the contrary, it works fine with a 32X as well. I have also heard that the JVC bios is proprietary, so it doesn't work with the CDX cartridge used for playing imports, but I haven't tried this personally.

I have one as well, I have the model in your pic. I can vouch that the 32x dose work with it. 32x/cd games also work (I was sceptical that the 32x/cd would work when I got the system). I have never noticed the mega drive slot though, Ill have to check that out tonight. All in all a great system!
