Got off the bus from Boston just now, and in front of a store on the corner of Delancey and Allen St, I saw a beat up, gutted cab next to a bunch of trash bags. I guess they want the sanitation dept to pick it up? It was in poor shape, the back was exposed, there was no motherboard, the monitor was intact but it probably needs changing. I didn't recognize the game because it was painted flat gray, looks like a golden age machine though, monitor part wider than the base, just one joystick and one button (?) in the middle. It's dusty as hell and needs lots of TLC but if you don't wanna build or order one, and have a van, why not save it from a permanent grave at Staten Island? Act fast, who knows how long it'll be there. I would've loved to take it in myself but despite the cabinet's size, I don't think my apartment would fit in it. :D

That is weird to see on the side of the street. O_O I would love to see a cab in almost any shape on the street. I would try to cram it in my car. :) If I found one like that I would mame it.

LOL You never know when you're gonna need some rope! I'd strap to the top/back of my car. A blanket & some rope or straps & you'd be set.

By now a dozen little Mexican children have probably carried it off.

That's the thing about garbage day in NYC. The city stinks to high hell, but you always hold on to a small hope that you'll find some cool thrown out game stuff someday. o_O Fat chance, though; somebody else would get to it first. People are always hauling away anything that looks half decent. Hell, even my family does it. o_O In every junky old computer that people throw out, there's always a chance that there's some good stuff inside of it... but most likely you'll just find cockroaches. :(

I think it'll probably still be there; I saw it at 4am, it's now noon. First time I've ever seen an arcade cab thrown out in the city. Probably chock full of spiders though! Might need a once over with "Spider-X".

Maybe if you drive a Hummer. Those things are damn heavy.

I was thinking the exact same thing, I don't think my poor escort could handle a cabinet on it's roof.

I'd just leave it if it were me, because I own no arcade machines, know nothing about them, and have no means to transport it. If you have the means to transport it, and think you'll use it for something, I'd say go for it!

Instead of taking it, you should restore it to its full glory in the middle of the night. When the shop owners come by to open the store up, I want you standing on the corner playing the awesome arcade machine they just threw out.

:eek 2:

Imagine the reactions! Oh, and you'd have to let them see you shove at least 1.00 worth of quarters in there.

Reminds me of a cab I saw of Ms. Pacman on the corner by my house about two months ago. It was on the side of the street waiting for the garbage man to come. It wasn't in the best of condition but it was complete. I thought I should throw it in the back of my truck and take it to my apt. Being that I live in an apartment and have no room for it and already being late to work I figured I would come back for it later that day. Of course by the time I got home it was already gone. Don't know why I didn't pick it up and drop if off at my friends house first. Don't think that will ever happen again. :(

STILL THERE! passed by it again, lots more graffiti on it now, i think the coin mech was removed, monitor looks like it was tried to be removed but the perps gave up. Lots more graffiti tags on it. Also, i think it was turned into a Neo cab at some point, i saw that it was 2 player, had A,B,C,D buttons and two competition style joysticks. Not one joystick and button as I stated before.

Delancey Ave between Elderidge and Allen Streets! Get it before they tag and gut it even more!
