Panzer Dragoon Saga never really got a chance. Maybe you could list Burning Rangers.

Perhaps Clash at Demonhead goes here, too.

Demon's crest is an excellent game that's become something of a cult classic. It sold incredibly poorly though. One week it acutally managed to generate negative sales figures!!! That means more were returned than bought!!! @_@

I second River City Ransom...as the most overlooked game ever

BTW I dont think that Gunstar Heroes didnt sell well. It received a LOT of hype from magazines like Die Hard.....and im sure it sold quite some copies!

Ugh, really? Wow.

No wonder that game's still like $30 new!

Did Dragon Warrior sell well at first in the US? I mean gamers had no experience with RPGs up to that point. It was a pretty big leap from games like Adventure. And, NP gave away a ton of the carts to help drive intrest in the game. I don't have any sales figures to back this up, but I would say all those things point to poor initial sales figures.

I don't understand the whole Gunstar Heroes thing, its a candy colored version of contra.

With kickass graphics full of scaling and rotation, and HUGE bosses that couldnt have been done with the SNesīs slow processor!

But did Yoshi's Island have a boss that attacked you with sonic flatulence?

How about a "roll the dice and decide if you fight a boss or not" level?

I enjoyed "Gunstar Heroes" more than Contra because i dont care much for "1-hit death" games.....that and i can throw people around and blow loads of shit up :D

I may be mistaken, but I've gotten the impression that Castlevania: SOTN had lackluster sales figures.

Especially since it got a Greatest Hits rerelease, you know.

Yoshi's Island = Super FX Chip.

Besides, the main processor on the SNES didn't do the real work; the special graphics chip did. The Genesis really could've used a custom graphics chip and then a slower 68000 would've been fine.

Keeping things in perspective!

Don't forget about the original Gargoyle's Quest 1 and 2, I never heard much about the two, but I played them to death, but we all know how wonderful they are.

I still wonder why Capcom's "Firebrand" aka "The Red Blaze" never got much attention

Of course CastleVania Bloodlines (Genesis, yet got a re-release thanks to Majesco), CastleVania Dracula X (SNES), CastleVania 2: Belmont's Revenge (GBY), CastleVania (N64) and CastleVania: Legacy of Darkness (N64) , and CastleVania Legends (GBC) did not sell well back in the day....but each holds a special place in many fans...especially the value of Dracula X on SNES

But the Genesis had "blast processing"! x_x

Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge and The Castlevania Adventure got "special" color re-releases in special anthology carts or something...I've never seen one myself. CastleVania Legends isn't a Game Boy Color game, despite having been produced in 1998.
