well, i just game the online version a try.....i guess its just because im using a keyboard and not a controller, but it seems way to hard.....not that im bitching....but, im sure the console version will be a lot of fun.....i always find games with controllers a lot easier to control (except FPS)

Yea, it looks awsome!

It is just a more advanced version of the popular online game. It will be better looking and whatnot. It's a 2-d SideScrolling shooter.... so that makes it awsome already. Plus it is suppose to be a pretty funny game.

It is also coming out for PS2 if you preffer that system. I am definatly getting a cube version. I thought it comes out the 19th though?

Aww...no destructable buildings in the online game! Well, that's what the offline version is for! It's a bit bloody and almost mean-spirited, but that's gonna be OK. Intro is so silly :P

I also found it quite hard. Managed to get past the first boss every time I met him, but would have my last lives drained soon after ;_;

This new trend of releasing games with a price significantly lower than the standard $50 makes joy surge through my left ventricule.

It's not even about the fad. The game wasn't very hard to make, and didn't take very long. It is a simplistic game (graphics and gameplay wise). They are a brand new company that wants to get there games out, and possibly stick around.

It has nothing to do with a fad, just thinking buisness wise. This game would NOT sell for anything more then $30. I would say expect a price drop to $20 within a month or 2 also.

The game is indeed kick ass, I've been pimping it since it was announced. Now all we need is the sequel. :)

ALIEN HOMINID OWNS ALL. I just got it yesterday, and I was determined enough to beat it in the same day. For a 2D platformer, this game is HUGE! Sixteen levels overall, each one... I'd say roughly about the size of your average Metal Slug level. Speaking of MS, this game is a lot like it, what with death being really easy, but powerups are everywhere and there are all sorts of ways to kill the enemies... and what a bossfest! I love me bosses, and these massive hulks don't disappoint... impressive. BTW, was I the only one to think that the first phase of the final boss was a lot like the Super Soldier from Metal Slug? Heh... I give this game two thumbs way up, but be warned, it can be infuriating at times. Level 2-4 just plain sucks, I think. Such pain...

Teh Soviet Missle Mastar Game is teh rool! There is nothing quite like guiding an extremely primitive missile system to America and having the little Soviet guy cheer if he succeeds, and then, "PWNED" appears in giant letters. It's... amazing. :eek 2:

I finally picked up a copy yesterday - the last one in stock anywhere around here! @_@

I haven't had the opportunity to put it in yet though - I also bought Neo Contra and Taiko Drum Master - I'm certainly looking forward to it, and I'll add my thoughts when I do.

I picked up the PS2 version. I'd file it under "Metal Slug Clone" for sure, mostly because of all the subtle humorous animations and stuff. The graphic quality takes a little getting used to. After seeing all these spectacular looking graphics, it seems a little odd to see a game made up of simple flash graphics on my television.

Ok, I have had this game since the day it was released and it's been getting some hardcore shelftime. Can anyone tell me how to beat the second level? I don't understand it.

How different is the game from the online version, because I'm no shelling out >5 dollars for a flashware game. Does it control like crap like the online demo thing?

Absolutely not.

Metal Slug clone or no, I think it's a stellar game. I have a few minor complaints, but other than that, I haven't had this much fun with a game in a while.

I too was worried whether or not it would be better than the Flash version, but it's improved greatly in every aspect. The controls are better, the difficulty level is more reasonable - though you'll still burn through your fair share of lives and continues, and the game is packed with charm - much like Metal Slug, there's so much attention to details and nuances in animation that I always see something new every time I play.

Game is right at the top of my current playlist, and I anticipate it staying there for a while.

i just rented this tonight, and i'm really enjoying it...lots of fun and i'll probably end up picking it up. i can't help to feel that there are some pretty cheap deaths in this game tho...not so much on the bosses as they're all patterns, but just the regular guys in the stages....but then again i got 6 extra lives just after level 1-1 so it kinda makes up for it. and maybe some memorization will cancel that out as well. plus i'm not really that good at these games.

i just need to work on my style points a bit more. the stage select is a nice touch and i'm loving the hats too :)

Bringing up a bit of an old topic...

The game seems to have disappeared from a lot of store shelves. I have become rather interested in it over the last few weeks though, and I've been thinking about picking it up. Before I did, I have a few questions:

Can you save after each level / pick a level to start at?
Are there many mini-games?
How many players can play in multi-player?
Is it worth $30.00?

That's all for now. I may pick it up by the end of this week :) If I can find it sill... :|

There's no save, but there is a level select for levels you've gotten to befor, and you can pick up the game from there.
I think there's a good bit of mini-games, but you have to unlock some of them...you start off with these pda minigames that seemed ok, but i didn't get too into them.
2 players, but I believe there is support for 4 in a few of the minigames
I rented it, and really liked it...but haven't bought it yet. I'd pick it up for $20 in a heartbeat...if you like this genre i'd say it is worth the $30.

you unlock hats...and yes, it is a feature that rocks. 8-)

I just picked this one up today. Not a big fan of the Metal Gear series, but this was just so charming, I had to have it. Funnier than Hell. And best of all - $19.99 at TRU. Still had a stack of 'em too.

And - for what it's worth - the clerk said the green tag sale will be coming back very soon.

OK now that that's out of the way, I want to respond to you on an animation geek level. The artist behind the great style of this game is Dan Paladin, a great friend of Tom Fulp and legendary Newgrounds.com contributor. Not to mention one of my favorite Flash artists, whee.

His website, when it's up, is www.synj.net

And his most recent contribution to Newgrounds is the rather addictive PEACEPLANE, located here:

When I first heard of this game coming to a console, I didn't know what it was. But I had vaguely heard of it. Never played it. Never saw it in person until it was shown off in a magazine.

Based on the graphics alone, I knew this game would be kick ass. It's my kind of art style.

I just played it on Flash just now. First time ever playing it. Seriously. This was one internet craze I somehow missed.

I read the console version has so much more added to it including better effects. I can't wait to get this. I just haven't been to a game store in so long. Next time i go out though, I will see if I can't pick it up.

Even though I haven't played the console version yet, I am still hoping for a sequel and a PSP port.

This game hasn't become at all rare as of late, has it? HG101 (http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/alienhominid/alienhominid.htm) suggests the print run was really short, but it's presently at $8 on videogamepricecharts.com . I very nearly considered buying it (the Gamecube version) for $20 at Microplay today.

...And if it's not rare, would you happen to have a copy you could sell me? :D

joshnickerson
08-08-2009, 08:56 PM
I believe the print run was relatively small, but Behemoth was still selling copies of the game for $10 up until the end of last year I believe.

It's uncommon, but not rare.

And $20 is a steal for the game. It's very good and very fun.

Too bad the Xbox version never came out in the US. Which doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, considering how well the Xbox was doing in this country. I don't get why Europe would be the place to release it but not over here.

And I'd really have loved to have seen the Gizmondo version come out.

How's the HD downloadable 360 version? The only thing I don't like about my PS2 version, is there's always some crazy bug that chimes in...like your dude goes off the screen and never comes back, etc....probably would've beat the game had it not been for the randomness glitches. Don't think I've ever played the game for more than an hour without a glitch...fun as hell tho.

It's the same game, a little prettier and once you beat the first level you unlock Alien Hominid as a playable character in Castle Crashers (as seen in my current avatar). Not bad for 10 bucks.
