$20 buck for the system, $3 each for the games. I found this at a thrift store believe or not.

It has a Radio Shack power supply that seems to work. I couldn't use the RF adapter since I don't have a PAL TV. I was able to use the AV cable from my N64.

I works on my small TV/VCR combo but I get a black and white picture. On my older TV I get the screen roll but the pictures still black and white. What do I need to hook this up right?

Sweet..

Not a bad find at all, especially considering that it's in such good condition.

It will work on non-PAL/NTSC monitors like the new LCD ones that use resolutions not Tube standards. You could plug it into a PSOne LCD screen and it will work fine. Or just wait for HDTV.

Any idea what the hell a PAL setup is doing in the middle of the US?!

An S-video cable should be fine to get a proper picture out of it... well I am assuming PAL SNES had S-video support...!

Everytime I find some import oddity I wonder wha the story was behind it getting to the US.. The only import I find and don't need to dwell on is Street Fighter II(JAP) I know the story on that one.

@mayhem: yeah, I was pretty surprised myself. it's not like it was a used game store, just a crappy thrift that sells mostly second hand clothing.

Sweet find!!! I didn't know that the PAL SNES looked like the Super Famicom. Gotta wonder why the North American version got a makeover...

I don't think that Star Fox was ever a pack-in title here, or was it?

The reason for the name change btw is because I can think of least one other game (if not 2) released in Europe called "Starfox"...

@Lady Jaye: I don't know if that was the pack in game. the system box just said "complete with this game" and it had an open spot. I just stuck one in.

@GENESISNES: persistance man!!! I go out looking just about every day. also sometimes I think I just get lucky.

Yeah -- I never found anything at the thrift shops. It doesn't help that I'm in a 'college town' so even thrift shops have different items than the cities I visit infrequently. I'm stuck from ordering goodies online :-\

The only thing I picked up at thrift shops was a Zelda: Moblins Spear book, a Sonic 3 picture book and 3 handheld games. 2 tiger bowling and football handhelds, and a mattel handheld baseball game. Oh well, I keep giving it a shot hoping I strike gold eventually.

Ah, a bog standard PAL SNES, very common to find in Europe for $10.00 or so.

We got the Jap style SNES because Nintendo decided not to use the USA style here in Europe.

And EA had a copyright on Star Fox (C-64/Amiga/Apple), so Nintendo had to change the name to Star Wing. Although why this didn't apply to the USA, I do not know, since the EA Star Fox also existed in your country.
And yes, Starwing was a pack-in.

I think the Euro/Jap Snes looked so much sleeker than it's US counterpart. They should have stuck to the original design in my opinion.
