I have yet to see a single post from anybody, over various forums, who doesn't love this game. Like a good American, when faced with unanimity I become suspicious. Let's put it to a poll.

There is a group of people at another board that hate the cover to death. I love it myself LOL . I don't think anyone thats actually PLAYED it can hate it. It's a absolute good!

Haven't gone looking for a copy. I will either tomorrow or friday. My town is made up of mostly deadbeat ps2 sports games players, so I bet my local EBGames still has a copy.

I like the news reporter guy. "Today the stars dissapeared. We don't know why". The funny part is he says it with no feeling in his voice at all.

I absolutely love this game. The only problem I've had with it is with the control sometimes getting a bit out-of-hand, and the camera being a bit... wonky... at times. Still, when you get over that and start building, it's just so much fun!

I'm crazy about this game, but I can definately see how a casual gamer might not like it.

I had to rearrange my all tiime top five list because of this game. Best new video game purchase since Advance Wars.
I think the soundtrack really gives the game the extra edge. It is like Mouse on Mars meets J-pop.

I work at an EB, and I have a co-worker who hates it.
I keep asking him why, and he keeps coming up with different reasons:
1) doesn't seem to be a 'point'
2) looks like ass
3) not at all exciting
4) the King of Cosmo's 'package'

This game is absolutely brilliant. I notice that my 3 favorite new gen games all involve rolling balls around...KD, Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2.
Oh, I feel it. I feel the cosmos.

I played it with a co-worker and needless to say he hated it...simply because I wiped the floor with his ass...and the fact he hates anything he sucks at...which is a lot of games

i love it....but, most of my roomies are casual gamers....they watch (and usually cant stop and end up sitting there for a while) but then they snap out of their trance and say how stupid it looks and how they will never play it...
i wish more games were like this...and i wish this game was longer
heres to wishful thinking for a sequel........hopefully someday

So did I. My top five is almost all pre 90's who would have thought a new game could become an instant classic. I love this game and I guess only time will tell if it stays in our library as a top game.

Great game. Hopefully sales will be good enough so that the sequel will be brought over here to the states, as well as to our friends in Europe.

Same here. Katamari is the only PS2 game in my top 5 list, in fact LOL .

I too am surprised this game is LOVED by anyone that plays it. That doesn't happen often! Hell, It didn't even happen with games like Super Mario Bros. 3!
So yeah, I LOVE IT! And I can't get enough, I have the soundtrack in my car, Wallpaper on my PC, and the Game Disk in the PS2.
Now give me a sequel AND MAKE IT SNAPPY! LOL

I am definatly enjoying it. Kinda repetitive though.
I definatly wouldn't call it best or greatest, but it is one of the better titles. Especially in small doses.... 1 or 2 levels every couple of hours satisfies me. A nice little time killer. I don't play it avidly like I do other games I love though.

i wish i would have done that....i only got 2 days of game playing out of it....granted i still need to get a lot of things to have everything complete......but, still....i should have taken a little more time

I loved it, but after rolling "everything" up in the eternal modes, I was sad it was over so quickly (and easily). Of course, I could start hunting for the items I've yet to "collect" and also try for the "speed" levels, but I'm ready for a little break from it. My son, on the other hand, keeps rolling up the world and yelling "I'm king of all cosmos! Look upon my vast ocean of nothingness, ye mighty, and despair!" or something like that. Anyway, it's teaching him metric which isn't a bad thing.
I just wish there had been maybe two more environments, like another town and another house. I'd also like a level to go from teeny, teeny tiny (5cm) to mega mega mega.
Next game, I want there to be people "aware" of the terror that is the growing katamari. I want them to see the katamari when it is little and say, "Oy! We must get that thing and stop it before it gets bigger!" This time I feel like the poor lifeforms are pathetically stupid for letting me get the katamari larger than a meter and start carrying off their children. You'd think that as soon as that started happening they'd start springing traps on me like big pits or nets or surround me with elephants or something. Maybe holding the ball down and peeling things off it.
Here's a challenge: get your ball up to a certain size and then try to shake it back down to as small as you can make it before the time runs out.

Amusing thing: The person I rolled up who was labeled "American" was quite rotund.
(The best Japanese view of the US is in the Kimagure Orange Road OVAs. "This is America! What will we do if they point a gun at us?")

I dunno.. I just got it. I was at Gamestop and the clerk had it at the front. I said 'oh is that that game where you roll around?" and he said "yeah.. want it? it's 20 bucks." So I got it. I probably won't play it until next year or something. :P

you should probably consider getting to it a little quicker than next year....and honestly, you can beat the whole game in a few hours...its not too hard at all....and its a lot of fun... you will enjoy yourself....trust me

Actually I was thinking the same thing or least people see the ball rolling around and responding with phrases like "Aww, that's so cute". Then when it gets huge they scream in terror or something.

I just picked it up from Gamestop. It is so hilarious. The opening scene kind of reminds me of the closing part of the South Park Movie. The gameplay is so unique and Japanese that I love it. I especially love the screaming sound the mice make when you run them over. SO HILARIOUS!

Well, there's a little evidence of a sequel coming (ie, gamefaqs and gamespot have it down but those aren't exactly "offiicial news sources"), so horray.
