I was talking to my father the other day, and to make a long story short, the SNES I thought had long ago been sold in a yard sale was in fact - still in my parent's attic! This was the set I had purchased on the first day they were available (actually before they were available - I had ordered it through Sears and it came 2 days early!) Also there were some of the old games with it! The Legend of Zelda I had bought back in the day still had the old game save! I was impressed - I preordered that thing, so that game save has been there a loooong time!

Now I just have to start rehabbing the set itself. Having spent the last 12 years of its life with two hardcore smokers had made it kinda funky. I am torn as to whether I should rehab the controllers or just get new ones. But either way, I am quite happy.

Anyone out there ever find a long lost game item from thier past? I stop and think of all the stuff I had sold back in the day - old NES stuff, VIC20 stuff, and a turbographix-16. But to get my old SNES back, after such a long time, just sort of rocks.

That rocks. I remember about a year ago, I found our old Intellivision system with a bunch of games along with the manuals and overlays. It was great, all these old games that I hadn't played for almost 20 years. A giant blast from the past...Nothing beats rediscovering the old games we all played when we were younger...

Our original Atari got boxed up sometime around '83 or '84 and moved into the attic. When I moved out, I dug it all out and took it with me. Still got it, with all the games I had as a kid as well.

congratulations

be warned though, the yellowing is not there because of smoking, it's there because nintendo used a cheap material on some snes, so i don't know if you can actually fix it...

Yeah, the yellowing is not their fault, but the musky stink is :) Oddly enough, only the top half is yellowed, and it has a few chips out of it too. So i think I may swipe the top half plastics off another unit. Last night I completly disassembeld the controller and soaked all the plastic pieces in soapy water for an hour. That seemes to help a lot with getting the smoke smell out. I'm waiting for my security screwdriver bits to get here...

well a similar thing happened to me, not game related though, I once lost a towel but found it years later with my name still somewhat recognizable so i took it back
