Im sure its nothing more than a normal copy but send to stores to try.
but i got a SNES game taht says

NOT FOR RESALE
DEMO GAME ONLY
PROPERTY OF NINTENDO.

but i remember at toys r us had a cart in a system that looked like the oroginal but had 20 seconds of demo on it. ( remember the really big thing that you hit the button to look at the game and try it)

anyway i think its a normal copy that isnt special but i figured id ask

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

starts up saying

(nintendo)

then 1994 clears screen nintendo clears screen presents clears yet again metroid 3.

then gives a bunch of options ( english version , some japanese text version) and if you hit b kicks u out to the 1994 screen for it to redo the intro

Huh that's interesting. I wonder if those have been dumped? I've never really checked.

i dont want to over hype this . but i was wondering since probably you guys have this game on SNES or at least a rom that you can check with . i thought the Jap. text option ( that wasnt lit up at the time) was interesting and i dont remember another SNES game including the Final Fantasy games to have this option. i figured it was unique and i hope osmeone can help me answer this. i paid $30 for the game ( hell i heard it was good from my boss so i got a copy. but i figured id play it and then i got that wierd intro( not typical to any of the other 97 snes games i got. and the odd option of jap text. whcih none of my other games offer.

I'm pretty sure that the regular Super Metroid is the very same way.

i figured that but i wasnt sure. its cool to find a snes game with a demo game ... property of nintendo label on it. let it be also a popular game.

Does it say demo only on the front label or the back label?

the label looks almost the same. i see where yours says not for resale . mine doesnt have that on the front.

on the back where you know the back label is. theres a clear label on back that reads thats its a demo game only not for resale and its the property of nintendo. leave it to game zone to come across this varation of not for resale . the girl i got it from that worked at ebgames( my store used a heat gun to get the gamezone label off and found this under it then she started to take that off too but then noticed it said nintendo and stopped and left it on. but ill see if i can do a scan

My theory is that it was a part of the Cart Changers that were used for old In-store demos. Does anyone remember where that pic of the Genesis 6 Cart changer is? The changer in itself had the reset capability in it that would only allow a certain amount of time to play. The original Super Metroid cartridge did have the option for Japanese text, but the fact that your doesn't switch over to japanese when you select it leaves me to believe that it IS a US in-store demo. The sticker on the back that had the Game and Manual coding matched up perfectly to the US release, so once again, leaves me to believe it an In-store demo.

Perhaps I will stumble across a picture of a Cart Changer, then we might be a step closer.

But JJNova (third person) honestly believes it to be in-store (Apparently I like repeating myself. It's a commercial, Repetitiveness is key)
