@_@ @_@

The UK 32X collecting scene certainly seems to be pretty busy at the moment ...

Congrats! Rob them clean! :D
If I ever decide to sell *anything*, it's going to be in co.uk.

Second highest bidder on that Kolibri right here :embarrassed: I splashed the cash on a crystal X-Box today instead.

Crystal X-Box? Nice :D

Although it's definitely a new high for Kolibri, I for one don't know why it has been selling for less than Chaotix for so long - I certainly see far less copies of it about. In fact, I think that the last copy on ebay before this one was also mine .. not in as good condition, which I sold off after I got the better one.

And apart from those two I haven't seen one for ages .. but there have been plenty of Chaotix's up. And, dare I say it, Kolibri is far more playable also!

What think ye all? Kolibri rarer than Chaotix? Or not?

Kolibri is much the rarer - there's at least one Chaotix up at any given time, I've seen about 3 Kolibris in the past 12 months. The one before that had a stupidly low BIN (about £35 IIRC, certainly no more than £40). Chaotix is like Streets of Rage 3, Snatcher & Shining Force CD - good games in plentiful supply yet stupidly over-valued. I'd happily stump up 70 quid for a good condition Kolibri - I'd pay half that for Chaotix. Yes, I know I won't get one for that much, it's just personal limit for that item.

ah yeah, i couldn't believe how high your Kolibri ended, i did watch all your auction as you might know ;)

your other copy wasn't the last one before this one though, there was a copy on ebay.de that went for like 60€, i just didn't have the money :(

Kolibri is definetly rarer than Chaotix, i've seen 2-3 Chaotix new in stores, not a single Kolibri and Chaotix pops up in a 4:1 ratio to kolibri on ebay

Wow. You know the NTSC American release of Kolibri can still be had for 10 bucks shipped, sealed on this side of the sea. I'm sure the PAL 32X has its own quirky territory lockouts though.

Vroomfunkel

Bah .. do not taunt us with your NTSC 32X prices. As if it weren't enough that you guys got far more games than us for the 32X, the whole NTSC library can be had for less than the cost of the single priciest PAL game ...

Add to that that you are virtually tripping over sealed copies of everything from Chaotix to Primal Rage and our noses are well and truly rubbed in it. Still, at least we didn't get those horrible yellow boxes :D

I didn't see the Kolibri on ebay.de ... but don't despair on the Chaotix front. I picked up mine for less than £40, and on ebay nonetheless. Don't remember exactly when, but I'm pretty sure that it was within the last year. I just watched every single one I saw and sniped £40 on them all till I won one ...

I will agree, the UK design is much better, but those prices... damn

I brought it up more as a study of contrast than to taunt, but if you want to take issue.. yes, Americans know to pay less for their crap. :D

I thought Sega was supposed to be monstrously popular over in Europe, what happened with distribution?

hydr0x

nah bratwurst, the MS was extremely popular, but mostly in the UK, not europe, the Mega Drive lost the battle against the SNES in europe as a whole although it won in the UK

it's too things that make 32X games quite expensive

1) they were mainly sold in the uk only, they pop up in spain, holland, germany, italy, france and australia, but i'd say 80% were sold in the UK

2) UK ebay prices are insane for some items and some uk collectors seem to have too much money, just look at Panzer Dragoon Saga, Streets of Rage 3 or Evolution 2 for various Sega consoles, ebay.co.uk prices are 2-3 times as high as ebay.de...

Hey, don't blame us for everything! The highest prices I have seen things go for have often been to people outside the UK. For example, the last complete Darxide that I saw on ebay went to someone on the continent for an exorbitant price.

Quite a few of the games that I have ended up selling for sky high prices in the past have actually been bought by bidders from the Scandanavian countries - Norway, Sweden, Finland etc. Just because it's a high price on ebay UK doesn't mean it's UK bidders pushing the price up .. there's just less people around who speak German. Not to mention that many, many German auctions will only ship to Germany. I bet if they shipped worldwide and had English and German text they would soon start reaching the same prices ..

Hey, we Americans have our ultra rare 32X games too. Spiderman Web of Fire NEVER shows up on ebay, and when it does it is ALWAYS over $100, even if it's just the cart by itself with no box and no instructions. Thankfully I got mine when it first came out for only $50, so I'm set, but there's alot of people here who will never have a complete 32X collection because they can't even find that game, much less be able to afford it if they could find it. The rumors are that only 1000 copies were ever produced, and I believe it.

As far as I am aware, Spiderman Web of Fire isn't horrednously rare ... if I wanted it, it would be just a matter of waiting a month or two and being prepared to pay the $100 or so it goes for. Darxide on the other hand ... comes up less than once a year, these days. I got outbid on the last one on ebay UK, which was cart only. And I bid $250. Now that is rare. And that's not even the rarest PAL 32X game ...

Damned shame about Darxide, too...it's texture mapped, and...well, @_@

I'll have to look into that one sometime, I guess :>

Primal Rage is the rarest PAL 32X game. Currently, the only one anyone seems to know about is the one that was part of Arrrhalomynn's complete set.

And Jan - I think I'm contactually obliged to argue your point about the relative MD/SNES European success (but I'll not open that can of worms again) ;)

Well, the ratio of kolibris to Chaotix' on ebay.au in the last year is (IIRC) 1:0 in Kolibris favour, possibly even 2:0. No love for the best PAL region of all from the 32x. Obtaing a 32x console here is easy enough, but the games...

I wasnt aware the 32x was so "popular" in the UK. I suppose ill have to get a motherbase from the UK then :o

If you win my auction (starts Thurs) then you get a 10% DP members discount :D

Yeah, I somehow missed a few 32X games out when I stuck the last lot up, so Motherbase, Virtua Racing and Space Harrier go up this week, along with all the Saturn games.
