So, we took a little roadtrip from suburban Boston to the center of New York City yesterday. The plan? To pick up this lovely Japanese Taito Egret:

After picking up the rental van at 9AM, we took off on our 4 hour drive. Got to the city around 1PM and drove around for a while trying to find this restaurant my girlfriend likes down there (Yaffa Cafe on St Marks, if you're familiar, and the food was excellent). By about 2:30, we were parked outside the apartment building where the Egret was living, and by 3PM, we had it loaded into the van. Of course, thanks to a traffic mess up on the NY/Connecticut line, we didn't get back until 7:30PM. This wasn't a big deal though, since the rental van was so nice, we didn't mind sitting in it for a while ;)
Anyway, the Egret got home safely and here are some more pictures taken this morning. It's got a Neo Geo MVS board inside (of course) and is currently loaded with SNK Vs Capcom Chaos.

I've had SVC for a while now. My MVS collection is up to around 70ish games that I've been playing via a semi-consolized MVS I built previously. All told, with rental, gas, lunch, (all things I consider part of the cost) and cab, the day came to around $525-$550.

Man I'd love one of those little cabs with a huge monitor like that. Looks like it's in great shape too man, congratulations! How mucch do they weigh, compared to a normal, wooden cabinet? And what floor of the apartment complex was it on? :)

Dude, you need to stop acquiring such awesome things without inviting me over. Seriously. 8-)
BTW, take a look at this thread. You'll find it very interesting.

They're much lighter than the standard wooden cabinet. Almost all of the weight is in the giant monitor. The cabinet was on the 7th floor, but that wasn't a problem because the cab has wheels and the building had large elevators ;)

Funny, I was just checking that thread out the other day. The red and black paint looks excellent, though I could never bring myself to paint over such a nice cabinet as it is. And of course, I'd rather have bulky PCBs than a PC involved ;)
The Egret is getting a ton of attention right now with Magical Drop 2. The only problem I have with it thus far is I can't figure out how to coin up Player 2 LOL

Sweet, sweet cab.
AWESOME!!.....Congrats..!!
I have a feeling you bought that cab off of Guillaume....member Howdoin over at Neo Geo.com....
I was considering buying it but I don't have the room for another cab..Shoot I just bought a Taito F-3 mother board and games.
Guillaume is a friend of mine.....very nice guy..
He's who I bought my MVS-U4 Candy cab in my sig off of..and the MB.
He sold me the Candy cab and then bought a Taito Egret..He used the money that I gave him for the Candy to buy the Taito Egret..
I had to wheel it out of Guillaume's "Very Nice" Apartment/Studio to the Elevator ..sneaking by the doorman by using the back door.
Parking sucked so we had to park on the main ave and wheel the cab on it's back wheels from the building to the mainn ave..Not a problem since the cab is light..but the looks I got from people walking were. @_@ :D
The Taito Egret was put in the same spot in his apt that my candy cab sat.

I love cabs like that. They're short and white so they look light and don't stand out too much.
