ill (try) and make this short and sweet :P lol
I work at a local arcade, we have 2 Neo Geo MVS cabinets...so today i asked the manager about prices for the system...ive always been interested in getting one one day, and i figured he was the best person to ask...well it just so happens that our Neo Geo Cabinet from Vancouver is being sent over to us becuz its not doin well over there anymore...he wants to sell it, and i asked for first pick...which i got...
he said he would sell it to me for 750...remember thats canadian dollars...im not usre if that would be with or without games, but ill get more info probably tommorow
what i really need to know is how much ppl here bought theirs for, things MVS owners NEED to know, and any of important info...also if someone could recommend sum sites, that would be great too! :D
also i really want to find a COMPLETE list of ALL MVS games made, and a price guide too would be even better...seein as how the advance guide doesnt have a complete list (i do understand why that is though)
thanks for your help guys :D hopefully ill be an MVS owner soon too :D

it's the cabinet (original SNK cab)? if it is it probably worth it , as for the games ask the manager where/how to get them, cause he might be able to get them @dealer/bulk price !! good luck

i would say that price is just a little bit high, but since your not having to get the giant thing shipped from somewhere for like $30o, it evens out and i think its pretty much worth it as long as the cab is in nice condition.

something else that would also factor in more value is how many slots the MVS board in it was.

the cab is a 4 slot...im not sure how good of condition it is becuz i havent actually seen it yet...but the manager takes great care of everything and the cabs we have right now are in pretty cool shape so i see no reason for it to be in bad shape...
is 750 too much? without games? with games?
i talked to my parents about gettin money for Christmas to go towards it (even tho its like 3 months early :P) and they said sure...they are obsessed with bust-a-move style games and they are real excited about gettin that for the MVS...the manaer has like 4 copies im sure he would give me one
if its the same as the 2 we have right now...its this one

what does $750 in canuckistani funds work out to in US $?
if it's in really good shape, doesn't need a lot of/any work, and has 4 good games in there, i'd say $750 is fair. a 4 slot in excellent shape that needs no TLC still fetches quite a bit...
are there any games included? 4 games that fetch a decent sum in there would definitely make it worth it. check prices for loose MVS carts on neo-geo.com. a genuine bust-a-move cart in good shape will typically run you $30-60, depending on how many are floating around out there at the moment.
there are a LOT of bootlegs out there, and with most ebay sellers, there's no way to tell. mdgamesales on ebay is pretty much the only constant source for genuine carts. japangamesnow.com is another good site to check out. very fast and reliable, with decent prices. neostore.com and arcadeshock.com have a lot of complete kits, but their prices are a bit high. if it's something your absolutely have to have as a kit, go for it, but otherwise i'd try other sources first.
complete kits will run you more money, and basically you get a plain brown box with a label that hopefully matches the serials on the cart, some bubble wrap, a mini-marquee, and a move list. some of these are VERY hard to come by, as many arcade owners have thrown away or lost this stuff over the last 10 years, and while a game like samurai showdown II is pretty common and cheap ($10-20, if that), a complete kit with matching intact serials would sell for much more.
good luck, i just jumped in to the MVS realm a month ago, and i've had more fun with this than anything else in recent memory.

Ultimately, I think this one depends on what games, if any, you'll be getting with the cabinet. If you get a *non-bootleg* Bust-A-Move, then that's a good start ;)

yeah, for $599, if it's on good shape and comes with games that don't total maybe $50 for all 4 (i.e. art of fighting 1, fatal fury1, samurai showdown 1, and super sidekicks 1 LOL), i'd say that's fair.
figure in most other cases you're going to spend $250-350 for the cab, plus shipping, etc., 4 decent games will run you $50-75 a pop...

I paid $700 for my 6-slot dedicated cabinet, then drove to San Antonio to pick it up.
To me, it would have been like paying $400-500 for the cab, and then $200-300 for shipping and insurance.
But as I said, the 6-slot is a behemoth - weighing it at about 400 lbs or so.
Shipping would have sucked.
Anyway, $750 US for a 4 slot is too much.
Just my opinion.
My recommendation would be to see if he'd sell the pair for $1000. Sell the extra one, and keep the one that you want.
Or just have two! :D

its not 750 us, its 750 canadian...and i think its a great deal after talkin to him more today...
he said for 750 i get it all, hardware, monitor, cab, etc etc,...(obviously)
he also said he would throw in a couple games for good measure
best part here:
he would help me fix it up...make it look brand new...and he would show me how to maintain it al for myself...
so not only will i get to fix up my cab to look GREAT, ill get free lessons in cab electronics...
and he has a list of all the games the Arcde owns...i have not seen it yet but its over 50 different games, maybe more like 100...and he says i can buy ANY of them for 50 bucks a piece....i THINK it means ill get the WHOLE kit...mini marqees etc...so i can buy the ones off of him that are worth more than 50...and get the cheap stuff off ebay...PLUS i can borrow any whenever I want...and remember thats 50 canadian, so for a lot of the games (Metal Slug series) that will be a pretty damn good deal
