How much would you suppose a Pac-MAN On w. no battery cove's worth? I've been tinking about getting another tabletop. Got any suggestions? I was thinking of Donkey Kong, o maybe even Epoch's Dracula.

Have you tried an Ebay search? I hink I've seen them go for close to $100US with batt cover. No doubt less without.

I WISH I still had my tabletop PacMan I got for Christmas when I was 12. Sigh.

I'd say a Coleco arcade tabletop is pretty much worthless w/out a battery cover. It's very hard to keep the batteries in w/out the cover. You would basically have to wrap the whole machine in tape!

However, I could use a replacement marquee sticker for my Pac Man tabletop...

Actually I've had 'em without battery covers. What you do is cut a piece of sturdy cardboard for the underside then secure the batteries with the cardboard - then wrap black tape around the cardboard to the base. If done cleanly, you won't even notice the black tape on the black base.

To answer the question more specifically though, the Pac-Man tabletop is the most common one. Figure $20 without battery cover (maybe $25 if it's in great condition otherwise) and $35 with it ($40 if mint).

I'd say that price is about right. I have a Pac-Man and a Galaga and with shipping included I paid about $40 each for them. I also agree with Joe about the battery cover. I had a Pac-Man back in the day and had to use a piece of plastic and some duct tape on the bottom and it worked fine. I think the ones without the battery cover are the way to go if you dont mind a little tape and you want to save a litte dough.

If you find it for cheap, no video game is worthless (maybe combat with no label and a hole drilled through the rom). I have passed up things in the past thinking "That's not worth 5 bucks!" and regretted it later. Who knows, maybe you will find a Coleco arcade tabletop in the future that is totally trashed except for the battery cover. It could happen and probably has.

I still need Frogger, Ms. Pac-Man, and DK Jr. to complete my tabletop collection. I picked the others up for $20 each (near mint and with battery covers).

Nice collection :) The Coleco tabletops for me (since they were U.S. based) were harder to get. And although I did manage to get a Pacman, after that, I never saw the rest except in the JCPenny/Sears catalogs.. ('Course I got the majority of them now however).

Anyway, I DO have all the Japanese arcade translations I bought as a kid. :D Now THOSE were awesome as well. Ever see Hyper Olympic Challenge 5? That game was a GREAT translation of the arcade game :) Didn't have as nice a cabinet style as the Coleco's though....

I once found a Galaga complete w/box (box was torn at the top) at a flea market and I put it on Ebay and it went for $85.00. That was a few years ago. 8-)

That is an AWESOME picture, Earl! The arcade marquees behind the tabletops... nice artistic touch!

Sadly, that was my tabletop display as of 2 years ago, but the only photo I had on hand (and on my server) that shows all of them. It's a lot less elaborate and space-consuming now, but they're still in front of a bunch o' marquees. I really do miss having the space to display stuff. :|

(No wait, actually, now that I checked, here's a more recent picture that only omits about three of them. This is how they're currently set up.)

There's something to be said for having the space for at least a somewhat elaborate display...then again, someone's bound to say that even the more recent picture is elaborate.

Nice! And to think that all I have handheld-wise, aside from the GBC, GBA and Game Gear, are the re-release of Mattel Football and the Tandy version of Entex Baseball 2. however, I used to have the Tiger version of Gauntlet, if that counts for something...
