Ok, so I got both controllers to work great (see my other recent topic)...
testing all the games and they work great. Then I put in football and I can start the game but not get a play called. After messing around with a couple of other games I realize that the number 1 button and the fire buttons work fine but none of the other buttons or the control pad seem to work. This applies to either controller. Both had just been 100% functional for all buttons and directional pad because I was just playing a bunch of games right before this happened.

Any thoughts on what might now be messed up? I'm thinking it's something with the main motherboard or one of the connectors. Of course, the whole console had been taken apart to repair the controllers and looking at the connectors, I think one of them looks suspect, but I thought I'd soliciti other possible ideas on here.

Thanks.

Anyone know of a website to get replacement parts or a new motherboard? Of course I could go on Ebay and just but a new system cheap, I suppose. But the fun for me is in fixing it myself... at least it is for now.

This happened to me once when re-assembling a controller and not having everything seated exactly right inside the controllers. When I tried playing a game shortly after, I had almost the exact same problem, except my "enter" key worked as well.

Even if only one little part, button, or MPCB is slightly out of alignment....on even just one of the controllers.....both will produce the results you speak of. I was bewildered when it happened to me....but the all it took was opening one of the controllers and re-seating everything.

I believe when I put everything together originally, causing the problem, I must have put it together aligned slightly wrong, causing one of the buttons to be "pressed". With the way that inty controllers work, this would still allow the "1" key and the "side actions keys" to work because the circuitry inside allows it to work this way.

This is not necessarily your problem, but it sounds exactly like what happened to me. I hope your solution is just as simple.

Good luck

Are you 100% sure you did not put the controller connectors (to the mobo) back on upside down? Easy to do by accident. And you get weird results.

YES! I'm sure.
