I'm sure it never came out, but does anybody know of a beta or a proto kicking around?

It did come out for the 3DO, but I think that's about as far as the game got on it's way to the Saturn. :(

It is a commonly known fact that the normally peace-loving creatures of Saturn have a Disintigration Ray capable of turning the planet Earth into a heap of ash ! And yet, they still watch their movies in black and white. It's puzzling !

I too am familiar with this well documented fact and I am also puzzled by it. It may involve Pia Zadora.

I remember seeing ads for this game on the back of instruction books AND in print ads, along with Buster Brothers Collection and Iron & Blood and some racing game. I wonder how much code was actually finished. It would seem that a game that is being advertised is close to release which suggests some amount of coding.

Hmmmmm :o

I was lucky enough to find a PlayStation Return Fire a few weeks ago. The 3DO version is pretty great, too.

I'd be pretty surprised to see a Saturn version in action.

Nice. I snagged the download on that page but couldn't seem to get it to burn properly with Nero. Could we get an English translation of those burning instructions? What region is this image?

Load the .cue file and Nero will know anything...

I did. First, it points to a .bin file that doesn't exist. After correcting that, it points to a track time for which there's no corresponding data in the .bin file.

Yeah, you need to open the .cue file with notepad and change the first line.

IIRC the cue points to "Returnfire_ok.BIN" or something like that. Just change it to the name of the .BIN file and save.

I never had any other problems though.

All I know is it's fully playable in SSF. ;)

Edit: It's set to all regions according to Saturn Region Patcher.

Well that's cool. Is it playable on an unmodded saturn?

No, you have to have a chipped Saturn or possibly use the not-so-good hot swap method.

I doubt it's playable on an unmodded saturn. Are any games burnable that can be played on an unmodded saturn easily?

I'm sure the ole swap trick would work though.

Just wanted to say that Nero also gave me an error on the audio postgap...so instead of trying to fix it. I ended up burning the disc with Alcohol 120. It didn't have a problem with the CUE at all and seems to be working just fine.

So if you can't get Nero to take the Cue even after changing the BIN filename...then try Alcohol.

Or CDRWIN. Which I used.

I've been busily burning Saturn games this past week, and I've just about given up on Return Fire. I don't have a mod chip yet, so I'm using the swap trick, which works fairly well for most games. Unfortunately, I can't get anything to run with this game.

I've used Nero for bin/cue and iso/cue, patching the region (although it appears to be region-free), new cue sheets. I've also tried Alcohol, which didn't work, either.

I'm sure it works on the emus, but what about an actual unmodded Saturn? If anyone has had any success, what did you do?

EDIT - PS -

Hey, look at that! I finally got it to work! Turns out all I needed to do what load up the .cue in Alcohol, and burn just like Nero. With Alcohol, I've been creating their custom image files (using the virtual drive) and burning those. It hadn't occured to me that I could just skip all that.

That's terrific. I've been wanting to see Return Fire for ages, and it's great to see it working on a Saturn. Turns out that the swap trick works perfectly fine.
