I just picked up Midway Arcade Treasures 2 today, and the game listing is great! But, what's going to be the "seller" game on this compilation? I love MK2, It's not the ONLY reason I bought it, but it will be the first one I play and it's always going to be my favorite. Though I expect that to be true with most people anyways. LOL What's yours?

Hard Drivin'. I always loved running over the cow that stood next to the barn.
I'm an MKII fan as well, so that's just more of an incentive to get it. ;)

People have compared Timber to Root Beer Tapper, so I'll be playing that title first.

Hard Driven is the seller for me. If they get it at least 90% right I will be a happy camper. :D

I haven't picked it up yet due to excessive brokness but next week I will get it with Homonoid.
I am really looking foward to the Mortal Kombats, definatly ,my pick. I want APB though just to see if they did a good job with it. Being that I own the arcade and all. *bragging* :P

Timber's nothing like Root Beer Tapper, it's just that the same design team made both games.
But both games ROCK. :)
I'd prolly log in the most time on N.A.R.C. As much as I love Wacko, it's just not the same without the proper controls (joystick / trakball combo). And that awesome, stilted cabinet.
Wacko = most underrated sleeper hit on the disc.

Just got it and I must say it is quite awesome. Played a little bit of Xenophobe, Timber and N.A.R.C. during lunch and all play, look and sound great. Timber is a little odd if you use the right stick (Xbox) to swing the axe but I'm sure I'll get used to it.
What sold the game for me? The above three games primarily.

APB for me. Great spoof of police games. Looking forward to throttling my first crook!

Primal Rage, I used to play that game to death in the Arcades, but was crushed when the ugly ass ports arrived on SNES and Genesis to discover that SNES verison was censored :(
I hope this collection revives everything I knew about the game

Well, the "seller" on the game has to be the Mortal Kombats!
BUT, my most looked forward title went to Spy Hunter 2. Then the MK's.

Heh, I apologize, but I just love screaming that word out at the top of my lungs. What about choice number two?
MORTAL KOMBAT!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Eugene Jarvis fan that I am has only one answer to the above question: Narc!
(of course, I will also check out MK II, Spy Hunter 2 and a few others... I haven't played MKII in ages, even though I do have the SNES version of the game)
Primal Rage and Mortal Kombat 2 & 3 are the selling points for me.
I think the MK fans will push the sales of this game pretty high.

I'm stoked for Xenophobe. It's a strange game, and I'm all about the quirky ones! APB will be great, as well; I haven't played that since I had a Lynx years ago! NARC will be a good replacement for my NES cart, too.

Huge difference between the arcade and NES versions... though the NES version is fairly viloent.
NARC's the big reason I'll hopefully be picking this up tonight if EB Games got it in today. Also Pit-Fighter and the MK games.

I just picked it up an hour ago.
Mk2 is the reason I got it. The guys at EB let me play it before I bought it. MK2 is Arcade perfect IMO. Mk3 looks just like the PS1 version. Also when you morph with Shang Tsung in MK2, theres no loading times. Sweet.
Ok went through most of the games...and I think they are lame as hell. Doesnt matter, I would pay 20 bucks for just MK2.

I suppose it would be hypocritical for me NOT to choose Wizard of Wor ;) Really though, it's hard choosing one out of the group... getting so many excellent games for a good price is it's own best feature really.
And even though I never heard of the game until this, Timber is actually VERY fun. If you don't end up buying the collection, at least go play it in MAME or something.

For those who picked it up: has anyone noticed any odd issues with it? In Hard Drivin', when you jump over the bridge and get to the turn where that side building "mini mart" is, has anyone encountered a strange "hole" in the virtual Earth? After I cracked up from going too fast on the jump, I started moving forward and then the front end of the car tipped and the screen turned green then I exploded. On the replay it shows the car tumbling in a sea of green. Every time I tried to drive forward the car would fall.
Also, MK2's player response time is sloooow. I hit buttons but my character is lethargic.

I think they mentioned over at AA something about the slight sound issues with MK2 and the Hard Drivin' issues.

How did this game manage to get a Mature 17+ rating?
The blood & gore in the Mortal Kombats?

Also I think NARC (pot plants, flying body parts, hookers, etc.).
I noticed that glitch in Hard Drivin' as well (and the sound is really terrible on it).
But overall, this is a really good package. The interface is much better than MAT1.

Just went through a few more games. MK3 seems slow. maybe Im wrong, I played MK2 before I played MK3 LOL But MK3 has sound issues also. Im glad I still have my PS1 version.

This is my main question:
How's the sound emulation on Wizard of Wor?
I hope the voice bits are complete *cough*MAME*cough* and that the sound/music isn't 'tinny'. I cringe anytime I play Satan's Hollow on MAT1, 'cause the starting music is so... dissonant, to be polite.
PS: I'll be getting the Cube version, so if a Cube player can answer this, I'll be grateful.

I'm ticked that they yanked MK 1 for Deception, but eventually I'll buy it when it's cheap and I'll love playing Rampage.

Not to get off-topic, but I noticed yesterday that most EB and Gamestop stores in my area received 1 or 2 copies of the GameCube version. I don't smell "rare" here, though. I guess it's just the speculator in me that makes me notice such things.

I know that when I called a local EB Games yesterday, they had only one copy for the GCN left (I don't know how many they had initially). So I had it put aside and picked it up last night.
Finally, the game I played the most last night was Rampage World Tour. :D
I watched some of the videos. I'm disappointed about the videos of Eugene Jarvis (for Narc) and Ed Logg (for Gauntlet II). They must come from the same video stock as the ones from the first MAT -- and as everyone knows, THESE videos were originally filmed circa 1997. The image is a bit blocky but okay, but the sound is downright crappy.
Note to Midway employees: when conducing interviews with your game designers for some compilation/documentary, please, please use a real mike so that we can hear clearly what is being said!!!

I experienced the exact same glitch. I crashed right after that bridge and it re-started me right in front of the checkpoint. As soon as I turned on the ignition and gave it some gas, my car fell thru the same "hole". There was no way out of this either...I re-started in the same spot 3 times and it kept on happening to me until time ran out. Hasn't happened since though.
Hey, has anyone played MAT Hard Drivin' yet with a force feedback wheel? I'm thinking about buying one of those new Logitec wheels so I can re-create that arcade experience.

The EB Games close to me was sold out of both Xbox and GC versions... I got the last one for PS2.

I've been playing this really steady this week. It's a major improvement over Arcade Treasures 1. At least they spent a little more time on the history and extras (not much more, mind you). My favorite game to play so far is Total Carnage. Totally fun. NARC is a close second. Wizard of WOR is a close third.
Here is my main disappointment. I have the XBox version and it SUCKS having to use the trigger buttons on MK2 and MK3. Plus, it's hard reaching the black & white buttons as a substitute. I am terrible at Mortal Kombat to begin with (I am bad at remembering all the different button combinations for moves), but those mushy triggers tend to amplify my ass-tastic MK skills quite a bit.
I would imagine that the PS2 version fares a little better because of the shoulder buttons, true? I guess the whole compilation would be better experienced with an arcade stick.

Xybots surprised the heck out of me. Awesome game! :)

Sadly WoW emulation is STILL too fast (unless somehow I remember the real arcade being slower... and it's much quicker than MAME) and where I could survive until around level 10 before things got too hard, now I'm dying in the Arena!
Narc was fun with my brother, though Mr Big is a little too tricky :P

There were still a few GC copies at my local Best Buy when I was there a few days ago.
Anyways, I didn't vote for anything. None of the games on the compilation stood out enough for me to consider getting it on the release date. Should I see a copy for $10 or so in the future though, I'll probably buy it.

I just got MAT2 and wow.. this.. kinda sucks.
I feel that I've just made a wish on the Monkey's Paw: Wizard of Wor has the voice, but not the music! That's just as important Dammit! And the Worriors move like hyperactive crack monkeys! Slow the F---- down!
Get this used. END OF LINE.

I've noticed the "hole" in Hard Drivin' several times. In fact, I remember hitting it a few times in the arcade. It was a pain in the ass to have it do that after spending a dollar.
It happens in several places, and it seems to happen a lot more in this emulation than in the actual arcade cabinet.
As for player response in MK2, I haven't noticed it, and that's the game I've played the most of the collection. It plays beautifully.

I bought it for several games.
For two, I wanted to MK2 and MK3 on my PS2. But, truthfully, playing these games from their SNES ports is almost as good (if not as graphically sharp).
Next, I wanted Hard Drivin. For the most part this is pretty satisfying. It is irritating that the Phantom Photon race is screwed up.
Finally, I wanted Xybots, and this turns out to be a very good reason for the disc. Playing Xybots with a buddy is just as fun as it used to be.

I'm surprised that nobody has said anything about the bug in NARC. I have the Xbox version. Everytime I get to the stage where you drive the car on the expressway, the screen goes black and the stage ends if you run your car into the helecoptor. I played the stage 4 times so far and I hit the helecopter everytime, but in different spots.

Jump and hit him with rockets in the eyes. When he becomes a skull, hit him with a rocket and then shoot your machine gun at the vertebrae.

Mayhem> A good place to get more rockets is on a couple of levels before Mr. Big when you're in the building taking on the HQ Posse. They tend to drop a lot of rockets. You really don't need too many though... 20-30 should be more than enough.

Damn, there's already a part 2? For what system? I just saw part 1 for the PC for the first time yesterday! I wanna go back and get it too, gotta have it!
BTW, I had to vote for Gauntlet II as the #1 selling point for part 2 for me, but the #1 selling point for part 1 for me is Satan's Hollow! That game rocks!
