Ok folks - some of you may have seen this on other forums about a month ago, but I'd like to shop it around to another audience. For those of you who haven't seen it, this is a Supergun built out of a TurboGrafx 16 console. First, a group picture:

http://www.gis.net/~bertulli/turbo1.jpg

What you see there is what you get:

- Turbo Supergun
- External power supply
- two audio/video cables
- Neo Geo joystick

Now, some of these things don't need much detail (cables, joystick), but let me drop all the details on the unit itself. Essentially, it's your typical looking TG16, but with special guts. It's designed to play *any* JAMMA arcade games on your TV via RCA or S-Video. Up front and on top:

The Hu-Card slot obviously no longer does anything, though you can see some wiring hiding under there. On the front, from left to right, there are two Neo Geo joystick ports wired up (and you get your first stick with the system!), the power switch, and nothing where the TG16 controller used to go. The joysticks will control any JAMMA game that doesn't require an additional wiring harness, not just Neo Geo MVS stuff. On the top of the console, there's a big red button - that's used to enter the test mode of your current game if the board supports it. Now the back:

The unit is being propped up by the power supply in this shot. On the left, there are two video outputs - standard video out (yellow) and S-Video. You can obviously use either output. On the right, there are two audio outputs for stereo sound. I'm providing two generic cables that I used - one for video and one for audio (since I had a mono TV in action with this). In the center where the expansion port used to sit for the TG16 is the actual JAMMA connector. Simply plug a board into it and you're set to go.

For techie stuff, there's a J-ROK 3.0 video converter inside to handle the RGB to video/S-Video and a line level to normalize the audio output. Everything about this system is tested and working. I traded for it merely a month ago, but no longer need it. The only cosmetic problem is that there are a few screws poking out the bottom of the shell that need to be cut/filed off. They don't affect the function of the system.

The other details. I'd really like to *sell* this thing, but I am open to trades. Considering the general cost of superguns, the components included, and the addition of a nicely-working Neo Geo stick, I'm looking to get about $200 for the entire setup. For trading, I really only want arcade-related stuff, whether that be JAMMA boards or Neo Geo MVS games or whatever. I'd also gladly trade for "rare" or unique Sega-related systems/games/whatever. Or, a trade/cash combo. PM me with trade offers, additional questions, or a "hey, I'll buy!" message. I think this is a great looking, unique little supergun and it works like a charm. Get yourself a JAMMA board and you're all set to play with this one. I'd like to see it go to a nice home. Thanks in advance.

While that's kind of cool... why would they do that with a tg16? That seems pretty random. :hmm:

I have a dead tg-16, I'm sure lots of people have useless console shells kicking about. They make natural project boxes because of their original intent as a 'video game machine'.

I really like how the cartridge connects to where the expansion port used to be, btw.

I love how each SuperGun has its own personality. I got mine from D-Lite here a month or so ago - it's built into an old 8 1/2 floppy disk drive case! The Turbo sounds like a good idea for housing: compact and retro.

That's not dirty. The TG has a sort of nonglossy finish that doesn't photograph well.

Chad's pretty much got it here, but I can say that the TG16 shell isn't mint-from-the-box looking. I am, however, as big of a freak for cleaning my games as anyone else here (I wash my hands before even picking up a controller once it's been cleaned first), so I can assure you that this shell is as clean as it will ever get.

I'm happy that your TG16 is flawless and I thank you for your help in my sale. Keep those positive comments coming.

Yea the TG-16, Genesis, SMS, N64, PS2, Turbo-Duo and Xbox don't photograph well.

With to much flash or light they look scratched , dusty and dirty.

You have to use creative light when taking a picture. ;)

But back on topic, that is one nice setup. If only I had the $$$, but I'm trying to pay off some stuff right now. :o

Well, good luck on your sale..... :D
