I picked up a complete Alone In The Dark: One Eyed Jack's Revenge for PS1 at a pawn the other day. It was out of my price range for used PS1 games ($10 talked down from $15) but I've been looking for a nice copy of this game forever and couldn't pass it up. Anyway, I get home and open up the instruction manual and out falls an AITD phone card. I was pretty surprised since I didn't notice this in the pawn shop. The front of the card looked exactly like the art on the PS1 manual and on the back was all the phone card info.
After finding this, it made me wonder if there were any other video game phone cards made. I know phone cards were big back in the mid-90's, so it'd seem that others would have been made. Does anyone know of any?

As far as I can tell video game phone cards are very popular in Japan. Personally I own one of the two that were made for Shining Force (Japanese).

Some copies of Blaster Master, King's Field and Street Fighter EX + alpha had phone card pack-ins as well on the PSX.

I have a Final Fantasy VII phone card from back when it came out. I think it was a Best Buy exclusive.

A handful of US PSX games got them as others have already pointed out.
However, in Japan there are phone cards for EVERYTHING. They're sold separately, though. There are some popular games that have dozens of different phone cards. Some phone cards are from contests or extreme limited editions, so they can become very expensive collectibles.

Phone cards are very popular in Europe and Japan. In fact, many people collect them I believe.

There was a phone card that came with one of my games that could be used for a hint line. I wish I could recall what that game was.....

Now that's a cool idea.
Course it wouldn't work now because of the internet and GamFaqs and everything, but back in the day? That would have been so useful.

Yeah, the card was a pre-paid $10 for a hint number....
I remember! It came with one of the D&D games for the 3DO! I don't recall which one, but I bought the game complete and used from EBay. It came with the card for a 1-900 number to call to get help with the game. I never did try it, cause I was sure it was no longer in use.

That was AD&D Deathkeep. I didn't realize it was for a hint line, I just thought it was a regular phone card.

I don't have it anymore so I can't confirm it, but I believe that it was for a hint line and not a regular phone card. I don't think it was that much time either -- like 10 minutes or 30 minutes, something small. Anyone have the game and card and can confirm or deny this?

It was for the hint line. I got a copy of it for the GOAT Store the other day and it still had the card. It was a pretty neat idea...

During the dreamcast era in japan, lots of game came with phone cards from sega direct, like shenmue. It still happens; Shikigami no Shiro II phone card.

I still have the Blaster Master: Blasting Again phone card. It wasn't anything special, just a 60 minute phone card from MCI/Worldcom, not with any game art or anything. Thing expired back in 2001, and the company expired anyway around the same time if i remember right, so who knows if it would have even worked LOL

Hmm..,I know its not a very significant title, but my Blaster Master: Blasting Again is still sealed so if there is a phone card inside, i'll have to take your word for it.
