I think General Custer raping the Native American maiden takes the cake, even with the horrible 2600 sprites.
What're your opinions?

The only game I have ever been offended by was Postal 2. I don't like anything that is offensive purely for the sake of being offensive.

I was just thinking of this earlier this week....except I was thinking of the blantant sexual innuendos(sp) in games......most recently I came across Ring King for NES in which the boxers session between rounds is very interesting.

I was shocked by Bloodrayne. In the opening scene she says "bitch" or something similar. Despite all the M rated games I own, it's the first time I remember hearing a character swear.

Agreed.
Personally I think Postal 2 is the best. Nothing was better than getting the "special" mode and pissing fire into someone's FACE. Or flipping them off for not signing your petition. Other than that it was shit.

terranigma spoliler
I had imported terranigma this one scene where Ark the main character is a baby(during that part of the story) and while the king had fyda ordered to burn the village , the king also ordered her to kill Ark (as a baby)
killin a baby in a classic snes game was a little offbeat .

All of the "infantry" guys are black, while the higher ups are white. The only infantry guys that are white are the ones w/ the guns.

You would be hard pressed to find offensive stuff on this side of the ocean. The game companies cut out anything even remotely offensive. It does seem that this is changing a little for the better, but there is still alot of editing going on, especially for games that appear "kiddy" yet have adult plots, so that the company can get lower ratings.

Omfg! I TOTALLY forgot about the horror of the dolphin in wave race 64. God I loved ramming that dolphin into the jagged rocks of the great ocean and hearing the horrifying sounds of dolphin grinding death.

>The crude language in "The Getaway" for PS2. But that's one of the elements that made the game so great. An interactive R rated action movie.
>Since I'm Afro-American or black if you will, you won't catch me playing "Square no Tom Sawyer" for Famicom. Can't believe the Japanese gave in to putting the same stereotypical cartoon style that have been pulled on people of my race for decades.

Somebody once told me that there was an NES game where you could put a hamster into a microwave.
I believed it at the time, but never saw it. Is this true? And if so, what game was it?

I'm not easily offended, so I just found it funny, but Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude pushes about as far as I've seen a mainstream game go.
Besides constant cursing and the full nudity, which can be uncensored with a Gameshark, there is a scene where Larry and a girl act out a section of his porn script by miming it in the air, three spanking scenes, a stripper, a gay bar and a sex scene featuring a teddy bear and a strap-on. You can pee on anyone. And there's a Porn Fairy who gives explicit instructions in how to use sex toys like anal beads. All three endings feature softcore sex scenes, and one is centered on a dominatrix.
If you loved old Larry games, you'll probably hate it, though, because it replaces the adventure game mechanics with a bunch of minigames.
Other things I've seen that might be shocking include the hammer murder of a child in Clocktower 3, the "Waste the Wife" mission in GTA: Vice City, the "break off limbs" code in GTA3 and the drug use as main gameply mechanic in Galerians.
My favorite possibly offensive moment, ever, has always been the exploding Hitler head in Bionic Commando. I always remember him saying I was a "goddamn wimp" just before our final fight, too, but I haven't played it since I was a kid.

It's in Maniac Mansion. Only the characters Syd and Razor, both punk rockers, will do it.

OOH I forgot about the CT3 child killing. That first level was COLD! That first level and first murderer was about the scariest thing I've seen in a video game. After the first level tho things start to.... suck.

The murder just before the second level was disturbing where the guy wearing anti-radioactive gear shoves an old lady and her son into a acid bath was disturbing too.

I just remembered something else.
In Supercade, there is a reference to a game called "KZ Manager" in which one allegedly runs a Nazi concentration camp. I looked this up just after I got the book and I couldn't find ANY references to such a game.
Was this a real game? A homebrew? An urban legend? WTF???

This game definitely existed.
If I remember correctly, it was a PC game from the late 80's/early 90's.
I don't know anything about the game's origins, though.
EDIT: tony_good? You are aware there's a site called Google, no? Jeesh. I just found plenty of info.

My vote has to go for "Custer's Revenge".
The one redeeming feature about this game is that it is hard to find.
If I ever do find a cheap copy of it I will purchase it and make the game even harder to find by destroying it. Yes, it bothers me *that* much.
I've got no problems with profanity, ridiculous amounts of violence or silly amounts of nudity or sex.
Rape is different.
If you want to know why, then ask someone who has been raped. The fact that it is pretty easy to find someone should be your first clue as to why it should never be made into a game.

Playing "American McGee's Alice" (awesome game) and finding the doormouse and rabbit in the Mad Hatters level. The two of them are strapped to tables and have had limbs and parts of thier body replaced by mechanical parts. It wasnt really offensive but it was quite disturbing running into them and seeing them like that.
The only thing i have ever felt bad about in a game is hitting the dogs in "Carmageddon 2" on PC. Hitting the people didnt bother me, but the dogs really didnt sit well with me :(

The old arcade title Operation Thunderbolt had dogs and cats run across the screen. If they were shot, the player was rewarded with grenades, extra magazines, etc.

To be honest, I don't really remember them swearing at all in GTA3 or Vice City. I'm sure they probably did it, but I don't recall any specific scenes. And yes, I know Bloodrayne swears throughout the entire game, I was just listing the first scene in which I remember her swearing.

The first DOA game was more hilarious than offensive. Watching those round things bounce from knees to forehead was a riot.
The WD remakes of the Lunar games have some extremely blatant sexual innuendo :) Not offended by it, but I found it funny that it has a teen rating hehe. Even with the nudity, it's still Teen.
I haven't played it (for obvious reasons) but I heard about and (to prove to myself it existed) looked into an MMO game where you can rape other characters. That most definitely offended me.

I've never been offended by anything in a videogame ever, except how bad some of them are.
There's only one game ever made that I'm surprised made it out the door; the light gun game "Chiller", in which you shoot people to pieces in a torture chamber. If I were a parent I wouldn't have been t0o keen on that one. It seemed to fly under the radar though.
