If this topic has been touched on, I apoligize, but I was wondering. How many of you guys pick up games when they first come out? That is to say, when they are at thier highest price. The reason I am bringing this up is because I was playing the New Midway compilation, and I realized that this is the first game I bought on its release date since The wind waker. I never buy games when they first come out. I wait for a few months and then get em when they are on sale of at a lower price. The way I see it, there are pros and cons to this. On one hand, I Pay less for my shit, and On the other, I cant really comment on games that are brand new. Any thoughts? :?

whoops, wrong thread........move me please.

Actualy there is a thread about this or at the very least very simular. I am unable to find it curently which is odd as I am sure I made a post in it. Last I knew, it had been moved to clasic discusions.

id have to say it depends on the game. i reserved wind waker and picked it up first day. but other than that the only games i bought on release was.... Mafia (PC) whichwas definately worth it, going more back in time was Zelda: Ocarina of Time (definately worth it x 2) and the first game i bought on release day was Duke Nukem 3d for PC. no disappointments there either.

a game has to really capture me to be worth buying on release.

Most games I buy used less than $20 if I can.

Only new game I'll buy is one I REALLY am looking forward to but figure that it might not be worth replaying. So I buy it at my discount, play it, enjoy it, say "Nah I don't want to play it again" and trade it in or sell it on ebay and get most of my money back. Bascially a long rental :)

I usually buy games the day they come out. If not, very soon afterwords.

I have only bought two games at full price immediately after their release -- Super Mario Brothers 3 and Perfect Dark.

For the most part, I won't get games until they have dropped in price. My collection right now probably contains 1000 games, and I haven't even begun to play 900 or so of them. I have no need to run out and buy games new when I know I can get them later. The only exceptions I've made to this rule that I can remember were NFL 2K5 and NBA 2K5 because they were only $20.00 at release.

20$ or less used more often than not except games that I rent that I can't stand to be without.

i usually don't buy any games full price, except some titles released at 15-30 bucks, last one was Gradius V, did only cost me 20€ either instead of 30€ but i bought it at release day...
