Thought it was about time this event got it’s own properly-named thread….it did happen, I was there, and I’ve got pictures to prove it! Sean’s was a great time as usual, saw a good number of DP regulars, along with some new faces…got to meet Sniderman among others, and had a good discussion on longbox PSX titles with Dangerboy (your command of PSX variants blows my mind!). Also got to meet The Collector’s lovely wife, and talk intellivision and game storage with her. (Hey Bill, what good deed did you do in a former life to deserve a beautiful wife who is also a gamer?…I’ll have to check, but I think that may be against the rules LOL )

Finally got off my ass and got an Advance guide from directly from Joe…another DP reference must-have! I put it to good use right away, as I seemed to do more selling than trading this year (yes, the wife was very happy to hear this). I still managed to come home with some goodies though. Got to try Counterstrike on a keyboard for the first time through Sean's excellent LAN setup (and was appropriately humiliated), got my Xbox soft-modded (already spent over an hour on MAME Pengo!), and saw the now expected array of things people brought in that I had never seen before.

Thanks again to Sean for hosting this event, his store is even more loaded with goodies than last year. If you live within a few hours of Chicago, you owe it to yourself to check it out. Here’s a few pictures I took…I had a blast, and I’m looking forward to other’s comments on the day!

The Counterstrike match I am free to photograph, because either Danny or Sean had just put another bullet through my forehead.

Meanwhile, in Sean’s back room, another multi-player blast-fest was going on…

…and Joe literally blew everyone else away in Saturn Bomberman.

My haul for the day, highlights included a nearly complete Nintendo Power collection, 7 complete Vectrex games, and of course my DP Advance Guide!

Thanks Rich. You know, i might not be as lucky as some finding games in the wild, but I was lucky enough to pick up my wife in the wild :D . She's my "Holy Grail" find. Here's a another example why I love her, we have a Neo-Geo Candy Cab...in our living room :P !
As far as Sean's Collector Party/Swap goes,Tanya and I had a great time. I was glad to meet some other DP members and put some faces too the names. I apologize to anyone who might have though i was unfriendly. I have a tendency to be a little tight lipped around people I just meet, sorry. My wife says I'm kind of unapproachable (i.e. i dont look friendly) but it usually not in my nature to be the first to say hello, but i'm trying :) .
I'm very much looking forward to next year. Thanks to everyone who I delt with(Tim, Danny, Dave, Yash, Sean, Rich, Joe & anyone i forgot) and especially to Sean for inviting us.

A great time was had by all. Lots of trading, a little playing, loads of discussion (I found myself involved in everything from TRS-80 games to Why The Yankees Suck), and of course, plenty of beer.

They never knew what hit 'em when they asked me to join their Saturn Bomberman game. :)

It was great catching up with the Chi-town locals (and some non-local friends) again and getting meet some of you for the first time, Dangerboy, The Collector (and Mrs. The Collector), Atarian75, and a few others I'll mention when I get my pictures online later tonight.

If you catch this, thanks again for hosting, Sean - it's one of the events I have built into my annual calendar o' events.

My calendar o'events consists of 2 events: CGE and Chi-Town Classic. First time I made it to either one this year, and now I wouldn't miss either of these events for the world.

It was great meeting Sniderman, Dangerboy, and The Collector for the first time, and of course it was great getting to see a bunch of people that I met at CGE again.

Sean's store is amazing, too. Better than all 8 Rockford stores combined. I spent way too much money but got some great deals in the process. I walked out with:

NES Metal Gear, Genesis Toejam & Earl Panic on Funkotron & Shinobi III (thank you The Collector)

NES Puzzle boxed, SMS Astro Warrior (thank you Sean)

SMS Alex Kidd: Hi-Tech World, Ghouls & Ghosts, Penguin Land, Fantasy Zone, Shanghai, Alien Syndrome, R-Type, Cloud Master

PSX Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (thank you Dave)

N64 Virtual Pro Wrestling 2, minty complete, and I do mean complete

Chunky and katchoo are the best people ever, too. Just letting everyone know.

Yay, finally made a topic about this!

Well, being a native, I have to admit I was always a bit sad that I could not join the fun in NJ or at CGE, so when I realized there was a Chicago based meeting, I made damn sure I was there. Lack of preparation, lack of sleep, and lack of knowing my own store was in a black out with no power of a day and a half couldn't keep me from attending. It was really cool to contribute to the party right off the bat with the Katamari Damancy, which, oddly enough, *I* still haven't played yet, and I bought the damn thing! LOL

So, my contribtion to the thread:

1. You all rock. Every last one of you. From Yash to Queen to Sniderman to Goodwill to Joe and Sean, this was a kick ass Saturday. I finally get real people attached with the nicknames. Yay!

2. Steve "Papastu" Wilcox is a frightful man. Not because he is scary in anyway shape or form, but because he is in fact my own personal mirror when it comes to mannerisms, collecting, and more. The two of us sitting down and talking with Jerry (the sony rep) was like two kids sitting inside the candy shop gorging ourselves on pixie sticks. I think Jerry himself was a tad scared of our fanbo...er...dedication to the system he reps.

I look *very* forward to working with him on the PlayStation list. Gotta save my pennies and visit Cali some day. 8-)

3. Thanks to Sean for hosting the gathering. It was my second time at the store, and if it was not for him opening up his backroom and allowing me access to his 'to be resurfaced' pile, I would not have found two variants, a variant orphan, and a map I needed. I'll eventually get to playing the Intv games I bought the month prior at his place, but for now I'm quite happy.

Thanks to Joe for everything in general. Without him and Krisitne egging me on, I'd have never gotten the connections/friendships that will most likely be the most treasured in my gaming life.

My haul for the day:
1. Crash Bandicoot Doll and WIld 9 promo tape(Thanks Yash!)
2. Winning Post on Saturn (Thanks Goodwill Hunter!)
3. Street Fighter Alpha 2 FE variant, Tarzan variant, Orphans (Thanks Sean!)
4. Katamari Damancy for $5 new (Thanks Best Buy Rewards Program)
5. King's Field Phone Card and MGS VR Demo Disc (Thanks...um....old guy!)
6. Laughs and good times (Thanks everyone!)

And thanks to Dave for picking up most of my guides and orphan cases. One less box fo rme to carry out. LOL

I can not wait till Chi-town 8 :)

I wish I made it there this year. Anyone know when it is next year?
