I have started collecting for the oft-maligned Philips CD-i and I am trying to put together a database of all the Digital Video films that were released for the system in either Philips DV (Green Book VCD) format or regular Video CD (White Book VCD) format. These movies were released from 1993-1996 and have the Philips logo on them. I am also interested in original VCD's that did not come with the Philips logo. Also any VCD's that are of foreign origin that are a) in English and b) have no subtitles. Let me know what you have and if I don't have it, I'll buy it.

To my estimation there were approx. 120 DV films released in the US and UK during this time. The DV films can be movies (i.e. Fatal Attraction, Rambo III), documetaries (i.e Civil War, Icebound), music concerts (i.e. Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi). I am completist and the Philips CD-i has a multitude of things going against it and I think the VCD function ups its value. Anyway, contact me. Jake

There is a pawn shop near my area that has some CD-I titles. Not sure what they are, or the price, but I can check on them it wanted.

Yeah I would really appreciate it. I mean you don't have to go out of your way or anything. Just whenever you have time. I am only interested in their Philips Cd-i Video CD's and DV Movies. I already have all of the games. Thanks.

Yes I m interested in foreign released vcd's also under the following conditions

1) English audio with absolutely NO SUBTITLES (of any kind)
2) Factory pressed VCD with jewel case and inserts (no cdr)
3) Major Hollywood film releases (no kung fu movies or foreign tv dramas, etc)

VCD's produced in USA, UK, The Phillipines, Singapore, and sometimes Malaysia are the only countries that fall under those criteria.

It depends. A year ago they would go for about $3-$5 complete (case, booklet, slipcover). But the last 15 that I have bought on Ebay I have gotten for an average of $1.75 apiece and that's including shipping. With the fact that used DVD's can be had for about $5, it is hard to justify anything more than that. That and the CD-i is probably the cheapest and least wanted CD-based system to collect for period.

yeah i have the complete philips cdi branded video cd collection, both vcd and digital video sets as well and they did not cost me much at all. the most i think i ever payed for one of the movies was the limited edition 3 disc james bond set for the cd-i and it cost me $35 other than that i usually get them for under $5. op, email my buddy denise from pmpro, philips cdi warehouse at cust01@pmpro.com and ask her for the $5 list. its a list of brand new factory sealed cdi games for $5 each! last time i got the updated list a few months ago it had some movies on it as well. other than that let me know if you need any other cdi stuff, i have some pretty good connections! ;)

Anybody have any idea about what a 3-disc boxed Apocalypse Now set is worth? It's both Phillips VCD and CD-i branded w/a program-synopsis guide. Also was wondering what a mint and entirely complete (including mousepad) boxed mouse would be worth?

I have a copy of Planes, Trains and Automobiles that I got in a lot. It's not my kind of movie; but in VG condition & complete. I'm open to ANY offers for it.

The Apocalypse Now DV movie is worth about $5 max. The last time it was on ebay it went for $1.99 plus shipping. The Planes DV movie is quite common and is probably worth about $2. Like I said before there isn't really a huge demand for this stuff (which I a good thing for a collector like me).

Hey, Motley, do you have any more movies for the CD-I available? I didn't see the auction in time and want to know if you have any more you want to get rid of. Thanks!
